The stock market on May 29th continued to experience significant volatility as investors remained cautious. The VN-Index briefly rose by more than 10 points in the afternoon thanks to a strong rebound in the oil and gas sector, but selling pressure returned towards the end of the session, causing the index to close slightly down 0.18 points (0.01%) at 1,863.49 points.
Market liquidity remains low, indicating that cautious sentiment has not disappeared. The trading value on the HoSE is only around 18,100 billion VND. Capital flows are mainly concentrated on a few individual stocks rather than spreading broadly, leaving the market in a state of "green on the outside, red on the inside".
Foreign investors extended their net selling streak with a value of approximately 750 billion VND, focusing on large banking and real estate stocks such as CTG, VHM, and VPB.
Amidst a lack of market momentum, the real estate sector continued to decline. Numerous stocks fell sharply, including DIG (down over 3%), PDR (down nearly 3%), DXG (down over 2%), TCH (down 2.6%), and CEO, KDH, NLG, and HDC, all experiencing corrections.

Nevertheless, the real estate sector still showed a rare bright spot in Sunshine Group's KSF stock. This stock surged to its ceiling price of 93,800 VND/share with a significant increase in trading volume compared to recent sessions. The rise in KSF occurred just before the annual shareholders' meeting.
Conversely, the oil and gas sector became a notable pillar supporting the market. GAS closed at its ceiling price, becoming the strongest driver of the VN-Index. Its trading volume also surged to its highest level in the last 7 sessions.
A series of other oil and gas stocks also surged, such as BSR up 4.39%, PLX up 3.9%, PVD up 1.7%, PVT up 1.4%, OIL up 2%... This group contributed about 5 points to the VN-Index, helping the index avoid a deeper decline as selling pressure remained widespread in banking, securities, and real estate.
The banking and securities sectors continued to diverge. Some stocks like MSB,ACB , and TCB maintained their gains, while VCB, BID, VPB, and VCI all declined, putting pressure on the overall index.
