Stable market during and after Tet

According to a report from the Provincial Market Management Department, before, during, and after the 2025 Lunar New Year, smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the province were basically controlled, with no hotspots. Large supermarkets and shopping centers prepared well, ensuring sufficient supplies to meet people's shopping needs during Tet, with no shortages or price spikes. However, due to increased shopping demand during Tet, the prices of some essential consumer goods increased slightly, mainly food, cosmetics, and ornamental plants.

To maintain market stability, the Provincial Market Management Department issued Plan No. 1004/KH-QLTTQN (dated October 25, 2024) on the implementation of a peak period of market inspection and control before, during, and after the 2025 Lunar New Year; and simultaneously directed its subordinate units to seriously implement it. With decisive and appropriate solutions, after more than two months of implementation, the provincial market management force inspected, detected, and handled 194 cases, imposing fines and confiscating goods worth nearly 8.2 billion VND. This included detecting and handling 78 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement; and 65 cases of food safety violations… This contributed to ensuring market stability and serving the Tet holiday shopping needs of the people.

Building on the achievements of the previous year, right from the first days of the new year, the Provincial Market Management Department directed its teams to strengthen inspection and control of food safety during the spring festival. Observations at the province's cultural and spiritual destinations during the first days of spring showed that the number of people and tourists visiting increased 6-8 times compared to normal days. During the 9-day Tet holiday, Cua Ong Temple (Cam Pha City) welcomed nearly 78,500 visitors; Cai Bau Pagoda (Van Don District) welcomed approximately 130,000 visitors; Yen Tu Historical and Scenic Area (Uong Bi City) welcomed nearly 77,000 visitors; Tran Dynasty Historical Site (Dong Trieu City) welcomed 59,000 visitors; Ha Long Bay welcomed over 62,200 visitors (including 45,600 international visitors); Sun World Ha Long Park welcomed 13,500 visitors; and Quang Ninh Museum welcomed nearly 5,000 visitors. Over 25,900 international visitors entered Vietnam through the Mong Cai International Border Gate… The increase in tourists poses a potential risk of unreasonable price increases for some essential goods if not properly controlled.

Having clearly identified the local situation, the Provincial Market Management Department proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and local authorities to strengthen propaganda and inspection work, resolutely handling acts of commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, and substandard goods. This included focusing on inspecting and controlling business activities related to goods and services for the spring festival in localities, in accordance with assigned functions and duties, contributing to ensuring market stability and protecting the rights and interests of consumers…

The provincial market management force has proactively managed its area effectively; strengthening inspections and supervision of business activities, food and beverage services, and parking facilities inside and outside tourist areas. Simultaneously, it has disseminated information and reminded commercial establishments to strictly adhere to price listing regulations and sell at the listed prices, ensuring food safety and hygiene. As a result, since the Lunar New Year, the market management force has not detected any violations related to pricing, trading in prohibited goods, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, or goods that do not meet food safety and hygiene standards.
