To mitigate the impact of prolonged heat waves on daily life, many families have proactively sought out and installed cooling devices right from the beginning of the season. Beyond immediate needs, people also consider functionality, price, and promotional programs to choose products that suit their family's economic conditions. Mr. Doan Van Phuc, from Tao Son village, Ngoc Son ward, said: “Right from the beginning of summer, I researched and bought some cooling appliances that my family needs, such as air conditioners, misting fans, and rechargeable fans. Because if I wait until the peak of the hot season, demand will surge, the market may experience shortages, prices will increase, and delivery and installation teams will be overloaded, leading to long waits.”
Surveys conducted at several supermarkets and electronics stores in the province show that cooling devices this year have not changed much in terms of design and models, but mainly have added features such as: energy saving, air filtration, odor removal, antibacterial properties, ion generation, remote control, and timer functions... The selling prices of these items remain stable, with little difference compared to last year. Air conditioners and various types of fans are currently the most popular items. Air conditioners are priced from 6 to 20 million VND/unit, depending on the brand and cooling capacity. Ordinary electric fans are priced from 300,000 VND to 2 million VND/unit; evaporative coolers are priced from 2 to 10 million VND/unit, and refrigerators start from 5 million VND and up. Water purifiers cost around 5.3 million VND depending on the brand and capacity... Most air conditioners and cooling equipment in supermarkets, stores, and electronics centers are usually from Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia...
At MediaMart An Hung electronics supermarket, located at 23 Quan Son Street, Dong Quang Ward, the number of customers has increased by approximately 40% since the end of March compared to the previous month, with sales of cooling equipment accounting for 70%. To meet customer demand, the supermarket proactively imported goods from the beginning of the year, increasing production by about 40% compared to last year based on weather forecasts and business experience. Although this year's market is affected by rising input costs due to increased transportation expenses, the supermarket still maintains competitive prices. Simultaneously, it is boosting promotional programs, offering direct discounts of 5% to 10% on specific products, free installation, and delivery, etc., to retain customers and increase sales. In addition to customers who come to buy directly, the supermarket also sells and supplies many products through online purchasing.
Besides electronics supermarkets, many electrical appliance stores on streets like Le Hoan, Nguyen Trai, and Tong Duy Tan (Hac Thanh ward) also display and introduce a wide variety of electrical and refrigeration products. To ensure product quality and increase competitiveness, many stores have proactively imported products with clear origins from well-known brands such as Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, etc., and have boosted online sales, readily providing home delivery and free warranty services to customers.
Market surveys of refrigeration and air conditioning products show that, to stimulate consumer demand, most stores and supermarkets are implementing attractive promotional programs and discounts for air conditioners, evaporative coolers, electric fans, and rechargeable fans, such as direct product discounts from 5 to 30%; free installation and materials; free gifts or discount vouchers... Notably, this year, stores and supermarkets are prioritizing the import and sale of products with energy-saving features, combining cooling technology, super odor removal, fine dust filtration, virus and mold elimination, and quiet operation.
According to supermarkets and electronics stores, this year's weather is predicted to be erratic, with extreme heat. Therefore, in the coming months, the demand for cooling products such as fans and air conditioners will increase even more. To ensure that their needs are met, consumers should also go to electronics supermarkets and authorized distributors to buy products, avoiding low-quality goods that do not meet safety standards and fire prevention requirements, and to receive the best warranty service.
