In a Bloomberg Power On report, analyst Mark Gurman stated that Apple is expected to launch a more powerful version of the MacBook Pro around the same time as macOS 26.3. This could be in February or March of this year.
Based on rumors, the new MacBook models will feature the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, more powerful versions of the standard M5 chip. Apple first launched the M5 chip in October 2025, equipping it in the iPad Pro and the 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Rumors about the MacBook Pro M5 Pro/M5 Max have been circulating for a while. According to Gurman, the new MacBook Pro is being developed with the codenames J714 and J716. The product is expected to retain the same design as its predecessor, with the biggest upgrade coming from a higher-performance processor.
According to MacRumors , macOS 26.3 is currently in testing and is likely to be widely released in February. The near-final version (Release Candidate) will be released in the next few days.
Another sign that a new MacBook Pro is coming soon comes from dwindling supply of the current model. On Apple's online store, many MacBook Pro M4 Pro/M4 Max options have significantly slower delivery times, with some versions delayed until March.
"Typically, inventory levels begin to decrease just before a product upgrade, leading to extended delivery times."
"I understand that some configuration options are also out of stock at Apple stores worldwide . Meanwhile, the new MacBook Pro models are already in stock and ready for global shipping," the Bloomberg writer emphasized.
In addition to the new MacBook Pro, Gurman also revealed information about several other products, including a new version of the Studio Display monitor. Current Studio Display inventory is reportedly low, both online and offline.
Previously, rumors suggested that Apple would upgrade the Studio Display in the first half of 2026, although the exact timing was unclear. A MacBook Air version with the M5 chip may also be released in the near future, although the M4 models are still available.
Following its launch earlier this year, 9to5Mac reports that Apple will kick off a larger product launch cycle, including the iPhone 17e, new iPads, iPad Airs, and more.
The MacBook Pro M5 Pro/M5 Max may also be the last generation to use the current design. Based on rumors, the successor with the M6 Pro chip will feature thinner bezels and a touchscreen display with an OLED panel. The device is expected to launch later this year.
