Specifically, in week 24 (June 9-15), the number of cases dropped to only 32 (14 inpatients and 18 outpatients). This represents a 66% decrease compared to the peak number of cases in week 22, which reached 94 cases.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health considers this a positive sign, showing that the city is gradually and effectively controlling the new wave of the epidemic after a period of increase from mid-April to the end of May.

Although the number of Covid-19 cases is decreasing, the health sector remains vigilant in disease prevention and control because the risk of severe complications and death is always present, especially in high-risk groups.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City recorded two deaths related to Covid-19 in two patients with multiple underlying chronic diseases.
The Department of Health advises people not to panic but also not to be complacent about the disease.
Adherence to the Ministry of Health 's recommendations for epidemic prevention and control remains crucial in protecting public health, especially given that the NB.1.8.1 variant is still circulating and there is limited scientific data on its virulence and rate of transmission.
The Department of Health will also continue to direct medical units to strengthen surveillance, early detection of Covid-19 cases and new variants, and prepare to respond to possible situations, ensuring the admission, care, and treatment of patients.
The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) is working closely with hospitals and the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) to continue sequencing the genes of new cases to assess the spread trends of the circulating NB.1.8.1 variant in the area, as well as the potential emergence of other variants in the future.
To proactively protect themselves, their families, and their communities from the risk of Covid-19 infection, especially high-risk groups, people should follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health as follows:
1. Wear a face mask in public places, on public transport, and in healthcare facilities.
2. Wash your hands frequently with clean water, soap, or hand sanitizer.
3. Avoid gathering in crowded places unless absolutely necessary.
4. Increase physical activity, exercise, and maintain a balanced diet.
5. Monitor your health and seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
