Specifically, in the 24th week (June 9-15), the number of cases was only 32 cases (14 inpatients and 18 outpatients). This number decreased by 66% compared to the number of cases in the week that reached the highest level in week 22 with 94 cases.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health assessed this as a positive signal, showing that the city is gradually effectively controlling the new wave of the epidemic after a period of increase from mid-April to the end of May.

Although the number of Covid-19 cases is decreasing, the health sector is still not subjective or negligent in epidemic prevention because the risk of serious complications and death can always occur, especially in people in high-risk groups.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded 2 deaths related to Covid-19 in 2 patients with many chronic underlying diseases.
The Department of Health recommends that people not panic but also not be subjective about the epidemic.
Compliance with the Ministry of Health 's recommendations on disease prevention and control still plays a key role in protecting public health, especially in the context that the NB.1.8.1 variant is still circulating and there is not much scientific data on its virulence and spread rate.
The Department of Health will also continue to direct medical units to strengthen monitoring, early detection of Covid-19 cases and new variants, and be prepared to respond to possible situations, ensuring the admission, care and treatment of patients.
The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) is working closely with hospitals and the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) to continue conducting gene sequencing of new cases to assess the spread trend of the NB.1.8.1 variant circulating in the area as well as the possibility of other variants appearing in the near future.
To proactively protect yourself, your family and the community from the risk of Covid-19 infection, especially high-risk groups, people should follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health as follows:
1. Wear a mask in public places, on public transport, and at medical facilities.
2. Wash your hands frequently with clean water, soap or quick-acting sanitizer.
3. Limit gathering in crowded places if not necessary.
4. Increase physical activity, physical training, and proper nutrition.
5. Monitor your health and go to a medical facility immediately if you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
