According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, most of the city's top valedictorians in the 2024 high school graduation exam come from private schools. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City has five top-scoring students in the A01, B, C, and D subject groups.
In the C block, Le Quoc Thinh, a student from class 12A3-6 of Nam Viet Primary, Secondary, and High School, is the top scorer in the C block in Ho Chi Minh City with a total score of 28.75; including 10 points each in history and geography, and 8.75 points in literature. Despite being the top student in the humanities/social sciences group in Ho Chi Minh City, Thinh revealed that he had previously failed to get into any of his three preferred public high schools. Instead of feeling sad or discouraged, he believed that it didn't matter where he studied, as long as his teachers cared and he tried his best. Therefore, from the beginning of 10th grade, he developed a clear study plan, focusing on self-study and independent research. In addition to classroom knowledge, Thinh proactively learned through various other channels.

“I only focus on studying in class. When the teachers lecture, I pay attention and apply the knowledge immediately so I don't waste time reviewing. I take notes using mind maps and logical diagrams to make it easier to remember. Only for topics that are too difficult or unclear in class do I look them up at home. I also don't attend extra classes but buy advanced books to read. Most of my evenings at home are spent resting and relaxing," Lê Quốc Thịnh revealed.
After receiving the results, with the advice of his teachers, Thinh boldly applied for admission to the Educational Psychology program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. "I hope I can follow in the footsteps of my teachers on the path of 'sowing knowledge and nurturing people.' I also want to help students with psychological problems or academic pressure overcome difficulties and move forward strongly," Thinh expressed.
