Valedictorian of 10th grade of Pedagogy College in 2024 in the eyes of the homeroom teacher
The High School for Gifted Students of Hanoi National University of Education, under Hanoi National University of Education, has recently officially announced the benchmark scores for 2024. Accordingly, candidates need to score 26.75 points to pass the specialized math class and 32.5 points to pass the scholarship. Ha Manh Hung, a former student of class 9A, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students, has excellently achieved a general math score of 10, specialized math score of 9.75, literature score of 7.5, a total of 37/40, becoming the valedictorian of class 10 of the Pedagogical Specialized Class in 2024.
Not only was Hung the valedictorian of the Pedagogical College, in the recent 10th grade entrance exam, he was directly admitted to the Natural Science High School; took the exam and received a scholarship to the English class at the Foreign Language High School. Currently, the male student is waiting for the 10th grade entrance exam results from the Department of Education and Training.
Ha Manh Hung is a typical student of this prestigious school. In the 9th grade excellent student exam in cultural and scientific subjects of Hanoi in the 2023-2024 school year, Ha Manh Hung was the valedictorian at the district level and won the first prize at the city level in Mathematics. At the 2021 International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) in Indonesia, Ha Manh Hung brought home 1 of 2 gold medals for the Vietnamese team when he was a 6th grader.
At the 2021 International Mathematics Competition (IMC) for Young Learners, Ha Manh Hung was one of nine Hanoi students who won a silver medal. Also at the 2022 competition, he won a gold medal at the 8th grade level when he was a 7th grader.
In the 2022 American Mathematics Competitions (AMC8), Ha Manh Hung entered the top 1% of candidates with high scores worldwide with 24/25 points. Previously, in the 2021 AMC8 exam, he achieved a perfect score of 25/25, becoming the youngest candidate to achieve the highest score.

Sharing with Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Mr. Cao Van Dung, Math teacher and homeroom teacher of Ha Manh Hung in 8th and 9th grade, commented: "Hung is always in the top of the school's Math competition team. He is good at Math combinations. In the recent 10th grade entrance exam, through understanding the general situation of all candidates in Hanoi, Hung was in the group that did the most exercises. And for Hung, when he does the most, he is definitely never wrong.
In addition to being good at Math, Hung is also good at English and often participates in Math - English competitions. He also registered for the entrance exam to grade 10 specializing in Physics at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. In general, Hung's parents pay a lot of attention to his studies, so he studied all subjects well. The average score is 9.7. The Literature subject is assessed by the teacher as having coherent writing and clear ideas. The Math subject is beautifully presented and solid. Hung was once the valedictorian of the school's grade 6 entrance exam."
Speaking more about his student, Mr. Dung happily revealed: "Although Hung is a good student, he is still childish, adorable, never calculating with anyone, lives in harmony and is loved and admired by his friends. I often tease him, "Hung, you have to grow up."
According to Mr. Dung, Hung did not attend extra classes but mainly studied in class and with specialized teachers. Hung also enthusiastically participated in class and school activities. He really liked soccer. Mr. Dung told a funny memory with his "favorite" student: every time the teacher solved the problem wrongly or wrote the wrong question, Hung would "check var" and then show the yellow card he made himself to catch the teacher's mistake.
Teachers' secret to helping students improve in Math
It is known that, up to now, Mr. Dung's class 9A has 45 students, only about 3-4 students are waiting for the results of the entrance exam to grade 10 of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. More than 40 students have been admitted to specialized schools, some of them have passed all 3 schools. Two students in the class were directly admitted to a "hot" school in Hanoi but are planning to study abroad. Although they have achieved many high results at different schools, the majority of them said that they only took the exam for fun and will continue to study at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

To achieve this achievement, in addition to gathering all the excellent students to study here, it is also partly thanks to the efforts of the homeroom teacher. However, Mr. Dung only considers himself a guiding captain, and success depends on the students and "the students' achievements are the teacher's happiness".
Mr. Dung expressed: "The first point of view when welcoming the class is that I always consider students as friends. Together we guide, share, and solve knowledge conflicts. I always accompany, closely monitor, and update new problems and new methods for students to do. After each lesson, I send the questions and solutions to the class group so that parents can grasp the content.
I always remind my students that presentation is very important. No matter how good they are at studying, if they do not present well, they will not get high scores. In the class, there are students who are good from the beginning, have a direction for themselves, but there are also students who do not know their strengths, and even say they are "afraid" of Math. I encourage them not to be afraid, just study according to what the teacher teaches, do not need to study much, but study as much as they can. Finally, in the recent excellent student exam, they won first prize and were also admitted to the specialized Math class of the school with high scores.
Unlike what people think, students at specialized schools face pressure. They are not pressured but are very happy and joyful to go to school. If anything, the pressure is how to try to improve themselves. I hope that when the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announces the entrance exam results for grade 10, my class will have a valedictorian in Math from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
