Reuters reported that Haniyeh is expected to meet with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other senior Iranian officials.
This move comes one day after the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the war between Hamas and Israel.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani described the resolution as "a positive step," adding: "The more important step is the effective implementation of this resolution."
Hamas also welcomed the UN resolution but insisted that the ceasefire must be permanent.
Earlier, on March 25, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian and the European Union's High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, held a telephone conversation to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian expressed concern about the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and condemned Israel's attack in the territory.
He called for immediate humanitarian assistance for the besieged Palestinian strip of land along the Mediterranean coast.
