The program was organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC), Ministry of Planning and Investment, in collaboration with Siemens EDA, Vietbay Technology Company (Vietbay), and SunEdu Company, with the participation of Mr. Dan Hoz, Founder and General Manager of Valor product division, Siemens EDA; experts from Siemens EDA; and representatives from universities receiving support from the program.

In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc highly appreciated NIC, Siemens EDA, Vietbay Technology Company (Vietbay), and SunEdu for organizing this program. This collaboration not only involves training and developing human resources in integrated circuit design, but also promotes research and development (R&D) to form a semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam.

In the digital age, the microchip industry plays a crucial role in driving innovation and development across various industries; mastering microchip design technology is not only a strategic goal but also an urgent requirement for Vietnam to assert its position in participating in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Recognizing the importance of human resources in this endeavor, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, especially Minister Nguyen Chi Dung personally, has always prioritized the training of human resources in high-tech industries, including integrated circuit design. This is not only an essential requirement for Vietnam to take breakthrough steps and participate in the global semiconductor industry value chain. Over the past period, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has actively collaborated with corporations and partners such as Qorvo, Cadence, ARM, Siemens, Google, Samsung, andFPT to organize numerous training courses. Simultaneously, it has closely coordinated with the Vietnam Innovation Network in Silicon Valley (USA).

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, today's training program is a practical activity to achieve the set goals. This is not only an opportunity for lecturers to improve their professional skills but also to enhance their ability to impart knowledge and passion to future generations of students.

At the same time, it was stated that, in its role as the comprehensive advisory body on the country's socio-economic development strategy, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has advised and submitted to the Prime Minister the "Scheme for the Development of Human Resources in the Semiconductor Industry until 2030, with a vision to 2050"; and thanked Siemens Group as an important partner, coordinating with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant parties in implementing and specifying some of the objectives of the Scheme.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc added that Vietnam has over 35 years of experience in attracting FDI and is currently considered one of the top 20 countries attracting FDI in the world. The strategy for foreign investment cooperation in the coming period focuses on attracting industries that utilize advanced, new, and high technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, modern management, high added value, positive spillover effects, and connections to global production and supply chains. Currently, many large corporations and businesses are present in Vietnam with outstanding preferential policies, and Vietnam hopes to continue attracting the attention of major global technology corporations to invest in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Dan Hoz, Founder and CEO of Valor, Siemens EDA, expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese government's strategy and policies for developing the semiconductor industry, particularly the activities of the Ministry of Planning and Investment in making Vietnam a promising destination for the global semiconductor industry. He also highly appreciated the Ministry of Planning and Investment (NIC) for actively implementing strategic cooperation activities with semiconductor chip designers and manufacturers, and leading technology corporations worldwide, including Siemens EDA, to gradually realize Vietnam's semiconductor industry development strategy.

Today's program reaffirms Siemens EDA's commitment to partnering with the Vietnamese government in developing human resource training for the semiconductor industry to promote the development of the electronics industry, Mr. Dan Hoz emphasized. He also stated that four months ago, at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding with NIC, Siemens EDA donated 900 sets of the most advanced chip and circuit board design software to several universities in Vietnam through NIC.

Today, Siemens EDA continues its support for Vietnam's comprehensive development of all stages of the semiconductor electronics industry by providing an additional 300 Valor software packages – a design validation software suite that helps accelerate the production of electronic circuit boards, facilitates direct connections between designers and manufacturers of electronic circuit boards, and creates a digital copy of the entire PCB manufacturing process.

Introducing the training program, Ms. Dam Thi Hong Lan - Director of Vietbay Technology Company - the authorized distributor of Siemens EDA in Vietnam, said that the number of trainees registering for the first course was double the expected number of 30 trainees, demonstrating the great demand and interest from the market. She also expressed her belief that with this training program, Vietnam will have more lecturers and experts who will have comprehensive access to Siemens' world-leading technology, confidently applying it to train engineers and students, thereby contributing to the supply of human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in particular and the world in general.

At the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc witnessed the handover ceremony of circuit board design software to universities.

Within the framework of the Program, a specialized technical workshop on IC design and PCB manufacturing was also held. Here, Siemens EDA's EBS experts provided specific information on SI/PI/EMI authentication solutions for high-speed PCBs with Hyperlynx; and solutions for authentication, manufacturing process planning, and production integration with SMT production and assembly lines using Valor DFM/PP. These solutions play a crucial role in optimizing the time and cost of IC and PCB production, as the design, capacity, and speed requirements of IC and PCB products are increasingly high, and the authentication and manufacturing process requirements are becoming more complex, making traditional solutions difficult to meet.

Representatives from schools and businesses exchanged and discussed specific issues regarding the research, selection, and application of appropriate technologies to solve emerging problems, thereby increasing competitiveness and market share. They also expressed their desire for more practical and meaningful cooperation in the future to further promote the development of the semiconductor electronics industry in Vietnam, meeting the stringent requirements of the market and confidently preparing to conquer the global market.
