Quickly). Currently, the total length of the riverbanks that are eroded and at risk of landslide is about 425/8.118km of rivers and canals, of which the riverbanks are particularly dangerous about 120km. Riverbank landslides have damaged nearly 28km of roads and hundreds of houses, potentially affecting an area of more than 3.700ha.

In Bac Lieu, Provincial Party Secretary - Lu Van Hung said that from 2015 to now, there have been 35 cases of landslides in the area. The landslides damaged 71 houses, affected 119 houses (cracks appeared); landslide length is nearly 1.700m. It is estimated that the damage caused by landslides is nearly 23 billion VND.
In 2022, Bac Lieu had 6 cases of landslides. However, in the first 7 months of 2023, Bac Lieu had 8 cases of riverbank and coastal erosion, nearly doubling compared to the same period in 2022 and previous years. The situation of sea dyke erosion is mainly in Vinh Chau town. In many places, the protective forest belt is no longer available, and the waves directly hit the dyke body, the risk of dyke breaking on high tide days is very high. In addition, the high tide of the Hau river caused many dike sections to overflow in Cu Lao Dung district.
Faced with the above situation, over the past time, the Government, ministries and central agencies have received the attention and support in implementing the Plan on prevention and control of riverbank and coastal erosion; Along with the efforts of the localities, the coastal anti-erosion embankment works, which have been fully funded and invested in, have been fully invested.
