Tomorrow, October 27th, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will begin a three-day visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition to official talks, the two Prime Ministers will inaugurate the final assembly facility for the C295 aircraft – a flagship "Made in India" initiative in the aerospace sector. The Tata-Airbus C295 project marks the first time a military aircraft has been manufactured in India by a private company.
During the visit, the Spanish head of government will also travel to Mumbai, where he will meet with leaders in trade and industry, as well as in the fields of research and film.
According to a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, this is Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's first visit to the land of the Ganges, and also the first visit by a Spanish Prime Minister in 18 years.
The two countries "have a close and friendly relationship," which was given new impetus after Prime Minister Modi's visit to Spain in 2017. The two Prime Ministers have met several times on the sidelines of multilateral meetings.
The statement said that Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's upcoming visit would be "an opportunity to review the entirety of bilateral relations and further deepen the partnership across a range of areas such as trade and investment, information technology, innovation, infrastructure, renewable energy, defense and security, pharmaceuticals, agricultural technology and biotechnology, culture and tourism."
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez arrived in India just one day after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz concluded his visit to India (October 24-26).
