(CLO) The project "Preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of King Tu Duc's tomb" has a total cost of nearly 100 billion VND, and will be implemented from now until October 2027.


The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has just launched the project "Preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of King Tu Duc's tomb" (remaining part) with a total cost of nearly 100 billion VND.

Accordingly, the works to be renovated and restored are Hoa Khiem Palace, Minh Khiem Street, On Khiem Street, La Thanh, gates, and technical infrastructure systems. These works are assessed to be in a state of serious disrepair.

In particular, the Hoa Khiem electricity project will repair and reinforce the foundation, curbs, steps, stone pedestals, restore the tiled floor, preserve moisture and termite protection; repair the walls according to the current state; repair and restore the wooden frame system, roof system, wall panels, doors, triple-layer panels, wooden floors and details made of group II wood; restore the roof covered with Hoang lapis lazuli yin-yang tiles, ridges, and eaves; restore the enamel animals; repair the altar, altar cabinets and furniture, lighting...

For Minh Khiem Duong project, we will repair, reinforce and adjust the foundation of the curb, steps, and stone slabs; restore the Bat Trang tiled floor to its current state; repair and restore the wooden frame system, roof system, doors, and wooden structural details; restore the blue glazed tile roof, ridge, and cornice with glazed ceramic tiles, and restore the traditional colored stock.

At Minh Khiem Duong, the project also includes items of renovation and restoration of furniture for display and space reproduction; renovation of electrical systems, lights and artistic lighting for traditional music performances.

The items of the citadel, gate (Vu Khiem Mon) and screen were also repaired, reinforced and restored with bricks, the exterior was plastered with traditional colored plaster; the masonry of the gate and screen of Vu Khiem Mon was repaired with bricks, traditional plaster and colored plaster, the recesses were covered with glazed ceramic tiles...

Tu Duc Tomb was built in 1864 and is one of the most typical tomb complexes, representing the landscape architecture of Hue's traditional architecture. Over the past time, the relics in this complex have undergone several restorations. However, due to limited funding, there are still some important works that have not been preserved or restored.
