The final match of the Asian Cup C2 last night was very tense, at Bishan Stadium in Singapore. There were about 10,000 home spectators attending this match.

Lion City Sailors lost 1-2 in the end, with the decisive goal scored by Sharjah FC players in the 7th minute of injury time of the second half. This was a very unfortunate defeat for the Lion Island team.
Despite losing the match, Lion City Sailors still made history in Southeast Asian football, becoming the team from this region that has gone the furthest in the Asian Cup C2 (formerly known as the AFC Cup).

The final took place at Bishan Stadium in Singapore, which was upgraded at a dizzying speed from 2,800 seats to 10,000 seats right before the final (Photo: AFC).
Lion City Sailors' achievement is on par with the final achievement of Kuala Lumpur City Club (Malaysia) in this tournament in 2022. That year, the Malaysian team lost to Al Seeb (Oman) in the final with a score of 0-3.
Also in the Asian Cup C2, there are two Vietnamese teams that have reached the semi-finals. That is Binh Duong Club in the 2009 season and Hanoi FC in the 2019 season.
This year, in addition to Lion City Sailors reaching the final of the AFC Cup C2, there is another Southeast Asian team present in the final of the continental football cups. That team is Svay Rieng (Cambodia). This team lost in the final of the AFC Cup C3 (AFC Challenge League) a week ago.
