The final match of the Asian Cup C2 last night was very tense, at Bishan Stadium in Singapore. About 10,000 home fans attended this match.

Lion City Sailors lost 1-2 in the end, with the decisive goal scored by Sharjah FC players in the 7th minute of injury time of the second half. This was a very unfortunate defeat for the Lion Island team.
Despite losing the match, Lion City Sailors still made history in Southeast Asian football, becoming the team from this region that has advanced the furthest in the Asian Cup C2 (formerly known as the AFC Cup).

Lion City Sailors' achievement is on par with the final achievement of this tournament by Kuala Lumpur City Club (Malaysia) in 2022. That year, the Malaysian team lost to Al Seeb (Oman) in the final with a score of 0-3.
Also in the Asian Cup C2, there are two Vietnamese teams that have reached the semi-finals. They are Binh Duong Club in the 2009 season and Hanoi FC in the 2019 season.
This year, in addition to Lion City Sailors reaching the final of the Asian Cup C2, there is another Southeast Asian team present in the final of the continental football cups. That team is Svay Rieng (Cambodia). This team lost in the final of the Asian Cup C3 (AFC Challenge League) a week ago.
