On the afternoon of June 2, before the welcome reception for the Dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien met with leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and heads of delegations from countries attending the Dialogue.

At the meeting with Mr. Richard Donald Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Australia, the leaders of the two countries' Ministries of Defence shared the results achieved in the cooperation relationship between the two countries in recent times, with new developments in areas such as: Delegation exchange, training, maritime security..., especially cooperation in the field of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping , including the visit of Governor-General of Australia David Hurley to the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (April 2023). On this occasion, the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence shared the good impressions during his official visit to Vietnam in November 2022.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien met with leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and heads of delegations from countries attending the Shangri-La Dialogue.

At the event, leaders of the two countries' defense ministries agreed to continue to effectively implement cooperation in the fields signed by both sides in the coming time; in the immediate future, promote the signing of the Peacekeeping Partnership Agreement and update the Joint Vision Statement on promoting defense cooperation.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien thanked Australia for supporting the transport of Vietnam's Level 2 field hospitals to carry out their missions at UN missions. The Australian Minister of Defense affirmed that at the end of June, the Australian Ministry of Defense will support Vietnam in transporting Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 to South Sudan.

At the meeting with leaders of the Singapore Ministry of Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his desire to promote defense cooperation with other countries in a more practical and effective manner, such as: Maintaining consultation-dialogue mechanisms, sharing experiences; cooperating in search and rescue and promoting the signing of cooperation documents; continuing to support each other at regional and international security mechanisms and forums.
