Within the framework of the International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2023, on April 12, in Hanoi, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism held an event to introduce Indonesian tourism .
Attending the event were Deputy Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi, Director of Asia-Pacific Tourism Marketing R.Winsu Sindhutrisno, representatives of airlines, tours, operators, hotels in Indonesia and Vietnam.
The event was held to enhance the exchange of tourists between Vietnam and Indonesia, further strengthening the diplomatic relations between the two countries. Representatives of tourism promotion agencies in Indonesia introduced new products to businesses in Vietnam to expand cooperation and promote the network of enhanced destinations in Indonesia.
Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said that the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam in organizing this program were enormous, aiming to promote tourist exchange between Vietnam and Indonesia, further tightening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu also assessed that this is an opportunity for Vietnamese travel companies to promote and introduce the natural beauty, destinations, culture and cuisine of Vietnam to Indonesian travel companies. At the same time, it is an opportunity for Vietnamese travel companies to learn about the culture, cuisine and beautiful scenery of the beautiful island of Bali and other destinations in Indonesia.
2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnamese heritage being officially recognized in the world. Since 1993, after the Hue Monuments Complex was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage, Vietnam has had 32 heritages honored, including Ha Long Bay; My Son Sanctuary; Hoi An Ancient Town; Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; Thang Long Imperial Citadel; Ho Dynasty Citadel; Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex... this will be an attractive destination for Indonesian tourists with beautiful natural landscapes, charming and poetic mountains and rivers.
The Deputy Director General of the General Department of Tourism hopes that after this event, there will be many experience tours and discovery journeys for Indonesian tourists to Vietnam and Vietnamese tourists to Indonesia.
Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi said that after the pandemic, new tourism trends were quickly adopted to adjust to changes in customer behavior.
"We look forward to promoting partnerships and cooperation between businesses post-pandemic. In the ASEAN region, Vietnam is Indonesia's fourth largest inbound market, after Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines," said Mr. Denny.
In 2022, Indonesia welcomed nearly 5.5 million international tourists, an increase of 251.28% compared to the previous year and exceeding the target of 3.6 million. In 2023, Indonesia aims to attract 7.6 million foreign tourists. To achieve this, Indonesia needs to improve connectivity and create more cooperation, and as a key to attracting foreign tourists, Indonesia exempts visas for all ASEAN countries, including two types of visas, visa on arrival and second home visa (for international residents working remotely who want to live in Indonesia).
“I hope that this event will be an important opportunity for both sides to explore new products, expand cooperation and promote cooperation networks to enhance connectivity between destinations,” the Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam emphasized.
According to statistics from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, the number of Vietnamese people coming to Indonesia in 2022 ranked 4th among ASEAN countries, with 62.19 million arrivals.
Currently, Indonesia and Vietnam have direct flights from Vietnam-Indonesia and Indonesia-Vietnam airlines. Vietjet (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh to Bali) 7 flights/week; Vietnam Airlines (Ho Chi Minh – Jakarta) 7 flights/week.
Bali is Indonesia's most notable tourist destination for its beach tourism, and is also famous for its unique art preserved cultures including: Ulun Danu Beratan Temple; Sanur Beach; Tanah Lot; Kecak Dance on Uluwatu; Garuda Wisnu Kencana; Desa Panglipuran; Bedugul Temple.
