With over 100 hectares of forest, Na Dinh village has been developing a plan for forest management, protection, and care since the beginning of 2025. For the protected forest areas, the commune provides specific guidance on forest and forestry land management to each village and household.

Members of the Task Force for Forest Management and Protection in Na Dinh village (Muong Kim commune) are clearing undergrowth to protect the forest.
Na Dinh village also established a specialized forest protection team with over 40 members, divided into 3 smaller groups. This force regularly coordinates with local forest rangers to inspect and remind people to clear firebreaks before burning fields.
In case the fire gets out of control, people must immediately report it to the authorities so that proactive firefighting measures can be implemented, preventing the fire from spreading into the forest. The task force also always prepares equipment and personnel to be ready to respond when an incident occurs.
Following the motto "protect the forest as you protect your home," Na Dinh village has assigned people to patrol key areas prone to fires. At the same time, they instruct villagers to report any burning of fields to the local authorities so that timely firefighting measures can be implemented. As a result, the villagers' awareness of forest protection has been raised, and they are more proactive in controlling fires when they occur.
Muong Kim commune currently has over 12,000 hectares of forest. To protect these lush green forests, after implementing a two-tiered local government system, the commune's People's Committee has reorganized the Forest Fire Prevention and Control Command Board, comprising 58 members, and established 43 specialized forest protection teams in the villages with nearly 4,000 members. These teams are responsible for patrolling, handling violations, monitoring the implementation of forest protection regulations, establishing schedules for slash-and-burn farming, and being ready to respond when fires occur.

Forestry officials in Muong Kim commune are encouraging local people to actively participate in forest protection and fire prevention and control.
From the beginning of 2025, the commune, in coordination with local forest rangers, organized 68 village meetings with over 5,000 participants; broadcasted nearly 300 awareness messages in 22 villages; and signed commitments to protect forests and prevent forest fires with 3,941 households. As a result, the awareness of the people and forest management forces has significantly improved. The commune's forest cover rate is estimated to reach 39.40% by the end of 2025.
Authorities are intensifying control over slash-and-burn farming activities, inspecting fire sources, and preparing sufficient firefighting forces and equipment according to the "four on-the-spot" principle. Forest fire risk warnings are maintained regularly, helping people to proactively participate in forest fire prevention and control.
The forecast for this year's dry season remains complex. However, with decisive leadership and practical plans from Muong Kim commune, damage caused by forest fires will be minimized.
