
General Be Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, attended and directed the congress. Also attending the congress were Comrade Dong Van Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council; representatives of leaders from various levels and sectors of the city; and 219 delegates.
During the past term, the city's Veterans Associations at all levels mobilized over 660 billion VND to support members and veteran families in developing their businesses and production, helping many members rise out of poverty and achieve legitimate wealth. The Veterans Associations at all levels helped 543 households escape poverty; currently, 48 households remain poor (0.13%); and 644 households are near-poor (1.77%).
In the effort to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing for members, the various levels of the Association have implemented many decisive solutions such as: contributing to the "House of Compassion for Comrades" fund, "Contributing cement and bricks", contributing labor and money, combined with other mobilized resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor members, creating conditions for members to work and produce with peace of mind and rise out of poverty sustainably.

During the term, the various levels of the Association built 614 new houses and renovated 248 houses with a total cost of over 42 billion VND.
Speaking at the congress, Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, suggested that the Can Tho City Veterans Association continue to effectively implement the resolutions of the City Party Congress, the resolutions of the Central Committee, and the movements launched by the Vietnam Veterans Association; actively and proactively help each other develop production and business, stabilize life, and escape poverty sustainably; be exemplary and leading in work and life, serving as a role model for future generations to follow, worthy of being called "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".
At the congress, the Vietnam Veterans Association appointed the Executive Committee of the Can Tho City Veterans Association, consisting of 37 members. Comrade Pham Van Buoc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, was appointed Chairman of the Can Tho City Veterans Association for the term 2025-2030.
