Over the years, Germany has consistently been a promising international tourism market for Vietnam.
To further attract German tourists to Vietnam, on June 30th in Munich, Bavaria (southern Germany), the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in collaboration with the Tourism Development Support Fund, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, and Vietnam Airlines , organized a program to introduce Vietnam's tourism 2025 to German tourists and tourism businesses.
According to the VNA correspondent in Germany, this program is part of the tourism promotion series in the European market 2025 of the tourism industry, aiming to provide tourists and businesses with the latest information on the "Vietnam Tourism Year - Hue 2025" campaign, new tourism trends and products for the German market, and updates on connecting flights and services from Vietnam Airlines.
The program also provided an opportunity for businesses from both countries to exchange and cooperate directly. In addition to representatives from the organizing units, the program was attended by several travel companies and a large number of German tourists interested in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, said that in 2025, Vietnam and Germany will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975-2025).
Over the past half-century, the Vietnam-Germany relationship has been continuously strengthened and developed vigorously in various fields such as politics, economics, trade, investment, education, science, culture, and tourism. Both countries share many common values, including the preservation and promotion of heritage and culture, and sustainable development.
In this context, the program to promote Vietnamese tourism in Munich is of particular significance. It is not merely a means of tourism promotion, but also a vibrant symbol of the bond between two nations with a long tradition of friendship and cooperation.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu shared that in 2024, Vietnam welcomed nearly 250,000 German tourists. In the first five months of 2025, the number of German tourists to Vietnam reached nearly 140,000, an increase of more than 16% compared to the same period last year - a positive sign and evidence of the enormous potential in promoting tourism exchange between the two countries.
German tourists are characterized by their pursuit of immersive experiences in cultural, historical, and natural fields, their preference for long journeys, their eco-friendliness, and their respect for local identity.
"Slow travel," combined with sustainable values, environmental protection, and personalized experiences, is increasingly becoming a dominant trend in the travel preferences of German tourists.
Therefore, Vietnam is focusing on developing more in-depth, sustainable, and distinctive tourism services, paying attention to personalizing experiences to meet the demanding expectations of German tourists.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu stated that cultural tourism activities in Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, and Ninh Binh offer a journey to explore the depth of history, architecture, and many beautiful traditional cultural aspects of Vietnam. Island and coastal tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Quy Nhon are also increasingly popular with German tourists.
Vietnam's tourism industry is constantly diversifying, improving service quality, and preserving cultural values, with the desire to provide German and European tourists with a complete and meaningful trip to Vietnam. At the same time, we hope that each experience will become a cultural bridge, strengthening the friendship between the Vietnamese and German people.
During the program, representatives from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration provided valuable information to tourists, such as details about Vietnam's famous tourist destinations and promotional programs for the 2025 tourism year. They also answered numerous questions from tourists and businesses.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Investment Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, this tourism promotion program is an important part of the "Vietnam-Hue Tourism Year 2025" campaign in the European market. Through this program, the Vietnamese tourism industry aims to introduce to German friends the unique characteristics of Vietnam, from cuisine, culture, and traditional crafts to sustainable tourism products.
According to an online survey by Agoda, Vietnam ranks 5th among the most searched destinations in Asia by European tourists, after Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The stunning landscapes, unique culture, and warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people have captivated German tourists.

According to Counselor Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, with their functions and duties, the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulate General in Germany will actively support businesses from both Vietnam and Germany in coordinating promotion and participating in important trade and tourism events; providing logistical support for media and business delegations; and assisting in building relationships with local authorities and tourism associations.
Regarding promoting foreign investment in Vietnam's tourism sector, Ms. Ha stated that Vietnamese representative offices in Germany have been actively introducing German businesses to participate in many key projects, such as tourism infrastructure development (resorts, eco-lodges, cruise tourism), aviation partnerships (ground services, regional flights), cultural and eco-tourism projects, and training and professional development programs for tourism staff.
In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, said that in 2025, Hue will host the National Tourism Year. Therefore, this tourism promotion program is a good opportunity for Hue to strengthen its promotion to international tourists, especially those from Germany and Europe.
In the first five months of 2025, the number of German tourists visiting Hue reached 30,000, making them the third largest group of international tourists to Hue. In the future, Germany is expected to continue to be an important market for Hue tourism.
Also at the event, Ms. Petra Schwert, representative of Vietnam Airlines in Germany, provided tourists and businesses with a lot of information about Vietnam Airlines' programs and services, especially information about the new Munich-Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City route, which connects major cities and tourist centers of the two countries.
She believes that with the potential of Vietnamese destinations and the experience and reputation of Vietnam Airlines, German tourists will experience the highest quality services when traveling in Vietnam with Vietnam Airlines.
On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines presented many gifts to tourists. In addition, tourists also enjoyed many unique performances of traditional Vietnamese music presented by folk artists.
