85 million euro striker creates controversy in German team

Nick Woltemade had a day to forget in Germany's 0-2 defeat to Slovakia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers early on September 5.

Woltemade is disappointing.

This was Woltemade's first game since completing his world-record €85m move to Newcastle, but his performance was unimpressive against Slovakia.

Despite support from teammates like Florian Wirtz, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, Woltemade still could not make an impression with a goal or assist in the last match.

Notably, many fans have pointed out that some players in the German team seem to not want to pass the ball to Woltemade, making him feel out of place in coach Julian Nagelsmann's tactical scheme.

Woltemade needs to quickly find a way to improve his form if he wants to assert his value at Newcastle as well as in the national team.
