13 Outstanding Athletes Attended the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism

On September 25, the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will take place at the Hanoi Opera House.

The Congress was held to evaluate the results of patriotic emulation movements since the 3rd Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; contribute to the implementation of political tasks, cultural and social development; set out directions and tasks to promote emulation movements and carry out commendation work in the period 2025-2030.

The Congress is expected to gather more than 300 outstanding delegates, representing exemplary dynamism and many contributions to the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector. In particular, the Sports sector is honored to contribute 16 faces including Labor Hero in the renovation period (2021-2025 period), Mr. Mai Duc Chung, Former Head Coach of the National Women's Football Team, along with 13 Athletes and 02 outstanding Coaches introduced and proposed by the Department of Physical Training and Sports.

Notably, the 13 proposed athletes are all names with high achievements in domestic and international arenas, including: Tran Thi Ngoc Yen - National Sepak Takraw Team; Nguyen Thi Oanh - National Athletics Team; Do Thi Anh Nguyet - National Archery Team; Trinh Thu Vinh - National Shooting Team; Lai Gia Thanh - National Weightlifting Team; Nguyen Tan Sang - National Athletics Team; Nguyen Quang Hai - National Men's Football Team; Nguyen Huy Hoang - National Swimming Team; Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - National Wushu Team; Pham Thi Hue - National Rowing Team; Athlete Le Van Cong - National Weightlifting Team; Doan Thu Huyen - National Chess Team; Tran Thi Bich Thuy - National Chess Team.

Notable among the above athletes are Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Quang Hai. Trinh Thu Vinh, a young shooter from the Police force, won 4th place in the women's 10m air pistol event and 7th place in the 25m sport pistol event at the 2024 Paris Olympics; Gold Medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the 2025 Asian Shooting Cup; and Bronze Medal in the women's 25m sport pistol event at the 2025 Asian Championship. She is also the first female shooter from Vietnam to reach two finals at an Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Vietnam's leading track and field athlete with many outstanding achievements, including 39 Gold Medals at National Championships, 12 SEA Games Gold Medals (including 4 Gold Medals at SEA Games 32, setting a record of 2 Gold Medals in 20 minutes), 1 Bronze Medal at ASIAD 2018, and currently holds 5 national records in the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m, 10,000m, half marathon and marathon.

Nguyen Quang Hai has a huge collection of achievements including many titles at club and national team level, notably the AFF Cup championship (2018) and the title of Best Player of the tournament, the Vietnam Golden Ball (2018), along with the V.League championship, National Cup, and National Super Cup. He was also awarded the Second Class Labor Medal (2018) and Third Class (2024) by the State.

Also in the list, the Department of Sports and Physical Training introduced and proposed 02 outstanding coaches: Mr. Tran Van Sy - Head Coach of the Vietnam National Athletics Team and Ms. Tran Thi Vui - Head Coach of the Vietnam National Sepak Takraw Team. Both are excellent coaches, having trained and coached many good athletes for the country's sports.
