Continuing the journey to school

Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company is a subsidiary of Power Generation Corporation 2, currently managing and operating the Song Ba Ha Hydropower Plant, with a capacity of 220 kW. The Song Ba Ha Hydropower Plant is the final step in the cascade of the Ba River basin, and the plant is located in Suoi Trai commune (Son Hoa district, Phu Yen province).

Suoi Trai is a mountainous commune, classified as a particularly disadvantaged area of ​​the district. The majority of the residents are ethnic minorities, and their lives are still very difficult, making the journey of literacy for their children challenging, with many inadequate learning conditions.

At the event, Power Generation Corporation 2, in coordination with Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company, presented 210 gifts to elementary school students. Each gift included a backpack, a set of school supplies, and two packs of milk, valued at 500,000 VND per person, with a total gift value of 105 million VND. In addition, Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company also donated 55 cartons of fresh milk (valued at 300,000 VND per carton) to 55 students of the school.

Mr. Vo Tra Dung, Chief of Office of Power Generation Corporation 2, said: "The 'Continuing the Journey to School' program, organized by Power Generation Corporation 2 in coordination with 9 affiliated hydropower plants, will be held at 9 schools nationwide. Nearly 2,000 gifts worth approximately 900 million VND will be given to students in these localities with the hope of sharing some of the difficulties faced by students in mountainous areas, helping them to have more motivation to strive in their studies and lives."

According to Mr. Vo Dinh Tho, Principal of Suoi Trai Primary and Secondary School, the school has 379 students, including 277 primary school students. "Most of the students here are from impoverished backgrounds with very limited learning conditions. The gifts they received are extremely meaningful, helping them to have better conditions to continue on their educational path," Mr. Tho said.
