The family of Ms. Lam Thi Huong in Phuoc Thuan hamlet is one of the households that effectively utilizes policy credit funds. Previously, her family's income was unstable, depending on farming and milling rice for hire. For about 10 years now, Ms. Huong's family has switched to buying white radishes to process into pickled vegetables. Thanks to a 100 million VND loan from the Social Policy Bank, Ms. Huong invested in tools, a preservation system, and transportation vehicles.
Every year leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), Ms. Huong's facility purchases approximately 60 tons of fresh radishes, processing them into 23 tons of finished pickled radish products. In addition, her family purchases and processes about 10 tons of salted chili peppers annually to supply the market. This model brings Ms. Huong's family a profit of approximately 100 million VND per year and provides seasonal employment for 3-4 workers during peak season.
Ms. Van Thi Thuy Duong, Vice President of the Women's Union of Thuan Hoa commune, said: "The Women's Union of Thuan Hoa commune has more than 1,000 members, of which over 850 members have accessed capital from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), with a total outstanding loan balance of more than 34 billion VND.
