Supporting fishermen's children to go to school

Political Commissar of Naval Region 4 and Brigade 146 visited and presented gifts to Tong Ngoc Phuong Nghi (Cam Ranh ward), the child of a fisherman sponsored by Brigade 146.

In 2022, when he was in 3rd grade, Tran Ngoc Duy's father (Dong Hai ward) died in a work accident at sea, and his mother left home. After the incident, he returned to live with his elderly grandparents, without a stable income, so he faced many difficulties. Knowing Duy's situation, from August 2023, Brigade 955, Naval Region 4 coordinated with the local government to sponsor Duy. The brigade commander mobilized resources to support him with 1 million VND/month; officers and soldiers of the unit also gave him bicycles, books, school supplies, clothes, shoes, etc. to help him go to school. Since being sponsored by Brigade 955, Duy has not only received support for his study and medical expenses, but has always been cared for and encouraged by officers and soldiers.

With the same circumstances of his father dying early, his mother not having a stable job, and his family being poor, Ho Dan (Ca Na commune) intended to drop out of school after finishing 7th grade. Being sponsored by Brigade 955, Dan was supported with a bicycle, books, essential living items, tuition fees, medical care, and 1 million VND/month. Thanks to that, his path of study was not interrupted and he had more spiritual support in life.

In recent years, Ho Van Trong (Phuoc Dinh commune) has also had more joy when he became the "adopted son" of naval soldiers. His father is a fisherman, his mother is a housewife, Trong's family's economy has encountered many difficulties. Colonel Nguyen Van Quang - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Technical Support Center 719, Naval Region 4 said that the unit has coordinated with local authorities to sponsor Trong since August 2023, mobilizing resources to support him with 1 million VND/month; officers and soldiers of the unit donated bicycles, books, school supplies, clothes, shoes, etc. The unit determined to sponsor Trong until he turns 18 so that he can have good conditions to study and grow up.

Technical Assurance Center 719 presented gifts to Ho Van Trong on the occasion of preparing for the new school year 2025 - 2026.

“The Navy sponsors fishermen’s children” is an activity to expand and improve the effectiveness of the program “The Vietnamese Navy is a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea”. Lieutenant Colonel Bui Xuan Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of Naval Region 4 said that in recent years, the Naval Region 4 Command and its affiliated units have effectively implemented this activity. Each mid-level unit and brigade has sponsored 1 to 2 children of fishermen, such as: Naval Region 4 Training Center sponsored Nguyen Thanh Sang (Lam Dong province), Phan Gia Bao (Vinh Hai commune); Radar Regiment 451 sponsored 2 children in Xuan Loc commune (Dak Lak province) and Phu Quy special zone (Lam Dong province)... Up to now, the entire Naval Region 4 has sponsored 19 students who are children of fishermen in especially difficult circumstances. Not only helping fishermen's children have conditions to study with peace of mind, the units also aim to propagate and call for the cooperation of the whole community to support and help fishermen feel secure to go out to sea, stick to the sea, contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. In the coming time, the Naval Region 4 Command will continue to direct units to closely coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, and mass organizations to grasp the living conditions of the children, thereby providing timely support; increase visits and encourage the children to study hard and overcome difficulties. At the same time, step up calling for support from the community, philanthropists, and businesses to increase the number of fishermen's children receiving support, improve the quality of support..." - Lieutenant Colonel Bui Xuan Binh said.
