Never knew 15 million was so much
Ms. Khoang Thi Chon – aunt of new student Khoang Linh Chi – said she took her niece by motorbike from Muong Lay town to Dien Bien Phu city to receive the scholarship. Chi has no father, and when she was over 1 year old, her mother died of cancer. She and her aunt raised Chi.
When Chi received her acceptance letter, the grandmother and granddaughter hugged and cried because they didn't know where to find money to send her to school. Aunt Chon used her land certificate to borrow 15 million VND, just enough to pay for her tuition and some initial expenses. When she heard that her granddaughter had received the scholarship, her grandmother couldn't sleep all night. When Chi went up on stage to receive the scholarship, Aunt Chon called, and Mrs. Dieu Thi Soi (Chi's grandmother) burst into tears.
“I never knew how much 15 million VND was! Before she passed away, her mother only left one last wish: no matter how difficult it was, Chi must go to school,” Mrs. Soi sobbed.
Freshman Luong Van Long (Son La Medical College) came to receive his scholarship with his close friend Tong Viet Phuong. Long is paralyzed due to myelitis.
Since 9th grade, Tong Viet Phuong has been going to the hospital and carrying Long up the stairs to class every day. Phuong is the one who motivated Long to overcome his high school years. From a student who only had enough points to move up a grade, Long worked hard and passed the college entrance exam.
Long went to receive the scholarship, Phuong took the bus with him, and helped him to receive the scholarship as usual, carrying him to class. “I have to thank my best friend who helped me get to school every day and who advised me not to drop out. Even though he went to another school and didn’t receive a scholarship, he still accompanied me and shared the joy with me here,” Long said.

The story of two new students Lo Thi Duy and Lo Thi Thao May - Performed by: VU TUAN - NGUYEN BAO - NHA CHAN - MAI HUYEN - TON VU
The story of two new students Lo Thi Duy and Lo Thi Thao May made the hall sob. Duy is a new student at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, he has been in school for two days but had to go home because he did not have enough money to pay the tuition. His uncle borrowed 15 million VND with interest for him to go to school but he was afraid of being a burden to his family so he "went back to work as a factory worker".
The School Support Program visited Duy’s family in Muong Po district (Dien Bien province) to encourage them and then connected with the board of directors of Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Luckily, the school agreed and guided Duy through the procedures for tuition exemption and reduction according to regulations. “I will study hard to not let down the efforts of my brothers, sisters, and sponsors,” Duy choked up.
Meanwhile, freshman Lo Thi Thao May (Son La College of Medicine and Pharmacy) went to school with her mother's last money. May was abandoned and adopted by her adoptive mother Ca Thi Dom (Na Nghiu commune, Song Ma district, Son La province) because she loved her so much. Dom's husband had died of cancer, her fields had been sold, and she no longer had the health to work. Loving her adopted daughter was her only consolation, so Dom secretly sold a pair of earrings she had kept for a long time so that May could go to school.
And the two students received special scholarships, each of which will receive 50 million VND for four years of study, donated by the Vinacam Scholarship Fund (Vinacam Group Joint Stock Company) to pursue their dream of going to school.
