Continue to preserve, nurture and develop the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship to new heights

The Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has become increasingly close and strong, constantly cultivated and preserved by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, becoming an invaluable asset of the two nations. 57 years ago, on June 24, 1967, Vietnam and Cambodia officially established diplomatic relations and this day has gone down in the history of the two countries as a major event, opening a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries, linking the fate of the two neighboring nations.

Despite the ups and downs of history and the events of the times, the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship has become increasingly close and strong, constantly cultivated and preserved by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, becoming a priceless asset of the two nations. Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries, both located on the Indochina peninsula, in the lower Mekong River region, both originating from a long-standing wet rice agricultural civilization in Southeast Asia. 57 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, looking back at the development of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, at the same time affirming the commitment to continue to preserve, nurture and develop this relationship to new heights.

Over the past 57 years, the two countries have established close relations in many areas, including politics , economics, culture and security. Some highlights of this relationship include: Political cooperation: Vietnam and Cambodia have always maintained trust and mutual support in international forums, as well as in bilateral issues. In particular, on Trade and Investment: The two sides are making efforts to promote economic cooperation, expand trade and increase investment to bring benefits to both nations. Cooperation projects in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, education and health have been and are being implemented, helping to improve the lives of the people of the two countries. Along with that, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries have also been enhanced through cultural and sports activities, creating conditions for people to understand each other more deeply. To develop the relationship to a new height, Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to seek effective cooperation solutions, call for common resources and enrich the areas of cooperation. Both sides also need to make efforts to address challenges, while respecting each other's sovereignty and national interests. Kind nature has allowed the Mekong River to flow through the two countries, irrigating the vast rice fields along both banks, bringing fish and shrimp to nourish people, creating a prosperous life for the people of Vietnam and Cambodia. With many similarities, the people of the two countries are close brothers, sharing the joys and sorrows, helping each other in the process of building and developing the country. The leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam and Cambodia have identified political and diplomatic relations as the core and overall orientation for the bilateral relationship. The two sides have maintained and effectively promoted cooperation mechanisms through increasing the exchange of visits, meetings and contacts between senior leaders and all levels; signed many cooperation documents as a basis for the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The leaders of the two countries emphasized: Looking back on the 57-year historical journey, despite countless difficulties, challenges and ups and downs, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia has been continuously nurtured. With the orientations and frameworks of cooperation in the new period, together with the determination of the leaders and people of the two countries, in the spirit of positivity, proactiveness, flexibility, creativity and efficiency, we believe that in the coming years, the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship will certainly develop to new heights, for the prosperity of each country, for the prosperous life of the people of each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
