Seminar on sharing safety management standards for tourist areas and spots

(LĐ online) - On December 11, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province coordinated with the Lam Dong - Da Lat Tourism Association and the Busan Tourism Promotion Agency (Korea) to organize a seminar to share safety management standards for tourist areas and destinations according to Korean standards to tourist areas and destinations in Lam Dong province, with the participation of more than 50 representatives of tourist areas and destinations in Lam Dong province.

At the seminar, representatives of the Busan Tourism Promotion Agency delegation shared experiences and safety management standards for tourist areas and destinations. In particular, they affirmed that adventure sports are the current tourism business trend, especially in Korea.

However, the government has regulations to limit risks for adventure sports tourism businesses, in addition to operating regulations due to objective factors such as weather, storms, floods, etc.

The tourist area must regularly check safety factors, arrange experienced people to be in charge of safety inspection and daily inspection, forecast situations where accidents related to non-human factors may occur; at the same time, there must be monthly training programs and safety instructions for all employees; once a year, a comprehensive inspection of the electrical safety system must be carried out...

At the discussion, representatives from the Korean side wished to have a joint tourism product with tourism businesses in Lam Dong province. They also saw the direct promotion of Korean culture in Da Lat... However, safety is a basic condition in tourism activities, so between the two localities, from the government, policies, businesses need to find a way to create safety for tourists from both sides, not only general cooperation, but also specific plans for both sides to achieve sustainable benefits.

In Korea, safety factors at tourist areas and spots are checked daily and periodically. If such regulations are followed and unsafe incidents still occur, the tourist area or spot may be suspended or have its license revoked…; there have been cases of criminal prosecution and temporary detention of the owner of the establishment that caused the unsafe incident…

Speaking at the closing session, Mr. Dang Quoc Chinh - Chairman of Lam Dong - Da Lat Tourism Association, said: Every year, Lam Dong province organizes tourism promotion events. In particular, this year, the delegation to promote tourism in Korea was led by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The delegation went to Busan city because it has similar tourism factors to Da Lat, although Busan is a coastal city in the South of Korea. After the promotion trip, the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee hopes to promote tourism between the two sides to exploit the tourist flight route from Da Lat to Busan and other localities in Korea.

The heartbreaking incident of Korean tourists in Da Lat recently has made tourism workers in Lam Dong pay more attention to safety standards in tourism. Safety not only brings a perfect experience to tourists but also contributes to promoting sustainable tourism development, with the role of both the State and businesses.

Tourism safety is a practical requirement, a prerequisite and a wish of every person working in tourism.

Looking at the safety management standards of tourist destinations from Korea, Mr. Chinh suggested that the government should have a set of safety standards for tourism, and businesses should also have their own set of standards. The completeness and strictness of the legal system and sub-law documents have created efficiency and effectiveness for safety issues in tourism activities... And, each unit and business must invest more effort and intelligence in safety standards... Therefore, the safety standards in tourism from Korea will be shared and disseminated by the Lam Dong Tourism Association throughout the Association so that units can refer to, research and develop their own safety standards...
