Bui Khanh Linh was born in 2002 in Bac Giang province. She possesses striking beauty, stands 1.76m tall, and has attractive measurements of 84-60-96 cm. In the Miss World Vietnam 2023 final on July 22nd, Bui Khanh Linh unfortunately missed out on a Top 3 finish, despite being highly regarded by beauty pageant enthusiasts beforehand.

However, just four days after the Miss World Vietnam 2023 final concluded, Bui Khanh Linh surprised everyone by registering for Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 and reaching the final round of this beauty pageant.

PV Dan Viet had a conversation with beauty queen Bui Khanh Linh before the final round of the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 competition.

Bui Khanh Linh: "There was no favoritism shown to me when I reached the finals of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023"

Having competed in two seasons of Miss World Vietnam, Bui Khanh Linh has yet to win the prestigious crown. What do you think is holding you back, preventing you from making it into the Top 3 of Miss World Vietnam this year?

- Having gone through two seasons of Miss World Vietnam without having the chance to win the crown is something I regret, perhaps due to bad luck or because I didn't quite fit the competition's criteria. Only through personal experience and going through it do I realize whether what I'm doing is right or not.

Regarding the issue of who is at a disadvantage, in my opinion, all the contestants entering the final round tried their best and aspired to win the title. Each person has their own unique beauty and strengths, so the result is a culmination of their journey.

Some speculate that Bui Khanh Linh's return to Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 just four days after the Miss World Vietnam 2023 competition was due to a subtle request from Ms. Pham Kim Dung - President of Miss Grand Vietnam and Head of the judging panel for Miss World Vietnam 2023 - to wait for her friend.

- Ms. Dung wanted me to participate in Miss Grand Vietnam, but that was in 2022. In 2023, I decided to participate right after Miss World Vietnam 2023 ended. Although I only had a few days to prepare for this new journey, I was always ready to participate in the competition with the highest spirit, always prepared for any challenge.

Will Bui Khanh Linh, a Top 5 finalist in Miss World Vietnam 2023, receive any special treatment from the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 organizing committee?

- When I embarked on the journey to conquer the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 crown, I was already a contestant and felt that everyone was equal. We all had to train, participate in activities, and perform the same way; there was no favoritism based on whether we were old or new contestants, familiar or unfamiliar.

Before participating in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023, Bui Khanh Linh was the winner of the "King and Queen" Ao Dai beauty contest at the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture in 2020; and the winner of the Ao Dai beauty contest at Phuong Son High School, Bac Giang. For two consecutive years, 2022 and 2023, Bui Khanh Linh reached the Top 10 and Top 5 of the Miss World Vietnam competition, respectively.

Currently, the beauty queen from Bac Giang is a student majoring in Advanced Agricultural Business Administration at the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture. In the 2020-2021 academic year, she was an outstanding student with a GPA of 3.63/4.

It's inevitable that some will say Bui Khanh Linh's participation in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 was a "hasty decision," or that she's just a "familiar face seeking the title"... What do you say about these opinions?

- I've always believed that each person only lives once, so I cherish every moment, always strive and work hard, and dedicate myself fully so that when I look back later, I won't have any regrets.

When I was young, I thought I had the opportunity to participate and experience different aspects of my surroundings, in various fields, to define who I was.

Having competed in Miss World Vietnam twice in three consecutive years and now competing in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023, does Bui Khanh Linh currently have to "tighten her belt" or borrow money to cover expenses during the beauty pageants?

- Many people wonder if participating in beauty pageants costs money? The answer is: Yes. But I was lucky enough to meet many designers and brands who offered to help me, so I didn't have to spend any money on my competition outfits.

In addition, I do photoshoots, filming, and guest appearances, so I also have a small amount to donate to charity. But my main income comes from selling agricultural products for the research institute at my school, which helps cover my expenses, provides money for charity, and allows me to participate in the beauty pageant.

Does beauty queen Bui Khanh Linh believe that competing in beauty pageants can "change one's life"?

- In my opinion, yes. From being an ordinary student, after participating in the beauty pageant, she received a lot more attention, gained more followers, and had more fans.

Life will never be the same again; it will change. And when you compete in a beauty pageant and become Miss, you will certainly transition to a new life because you are representing a competition, representing brands... But above all, Miss is just a title; your life is your own choice and path.

Bui Khanh Linh's parents live in the countryside of Bac Giang province and work in agriculture. What did they say when their daughter decided to compete in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023?

- My parents have always supported and accompanied me on every journey I've undertaken. However, when I made the quick decision to participate in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023, they were a little worried, but they encouraged me to try my best and calmly move forward.

Reportedly, the Miss Grand International organizing committee announced: "The 3B criteria alone are not enough. The competition president has introduced a new 4B criterion, which includes: Beauty, Body, Brain, and Business." Does Bui Khanh Linh feel more confident that she meets these "challenging" criteria than she did when Miss Thuy Tien was crowned?

- The fourth criterion, Business, is also the one I find most suitable for myself. As you can see, my main field of study is business, and currently, I am involved in the agricultural product business.

During the recent Miss World Vietnam 2023 competition, after filming my charity project, I launched a fundraising campaign to "Sell succulents to raise funds for charity." This business model aimed to appeal to compassionate hearts to help two underprivileged children suffering from illnesses.

Therefore, I believe I meet all four criteria set forth for Miss Grand International, making me a suitable candidate to represent Vietnam in this beauty pageant.

What are Bui Khanh Linh's goals and desired ranking for herself at Miss Grand Vietnam 2023?

- When I entered the Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 competition with determination and a desire to change myself, my goal was to win the prestigious crown and represent Vietnam at Miss Grand International 2023, which will be held in Vietnam this year.

Suppose, if Bui Khanh Linh unfortunately doesn't make it into the Top 3 of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023 , will she continue to compete in beauty pageants?

- When I decided to participate in Miss Grand Vietnam 2023, I hoped to win the top prize. If I unfortunately don't win, this will be the last competition I participate in because I think I don't have a knack for beauty pageants. I will return to my studies and who knows, in the future we might see Bui Khanh Linh as a businesswoman with projects in green agriculture and sustainable farming.
