(NLĐO) - On the afternoon of March 6, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasimalyev.


During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Prime Minister Adylbek Kasimalyev and the high-level delegation's official visit to Vietnam, expressing confidence that the visit would open a new phase for the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its significant achievements in recent times under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov and the administration of the Kyrgyz government; affirming that Vietnam values ​​its friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan - a traditional friend that has supported the Vietnamese people in their struggle for independence in the past and in the current process of national construction, emphasizing that this is an invaluable asset built by the leaders and people of both countries.

The General Secretary assessed that over more than three decades, political and diplomatic relations have been strengthened, and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has made positive progress. However, there is still much untapped potential, and he expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields based on agreements and commitments between the two sides, effectively utilizing the advantages of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union; the two countries can play a connecting role in the Central Asian region and ASEAN.

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time, a great honor to open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation; thanked General Secretary To Lam for his kind words about bilateral relations; conveyed greetings from President Sadyr Japarov to the General Secretary; and was deeply moved by the warm and hospitable reception extended by the Party, Government, and people of Vietnam to the Prime Minister and the Kyrgyz delegation from the moment they arrived in Vietnam. The Prime Minister expressed his profound impression of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and its increasingly high international standing under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and wished to share Vietnam's development experiences.

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan shared that during talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the two sides agreed on specific directions to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, a country with many hills and mountains, hopes to strengthen relations with Vietnam in the field of mountain protection and welcomes Vietnam's participation in international conferences on mountainous areas organized by Kyrgyzstan.

Discussing future directions for the development of bilateral relations, the two leaders agreed that the two countries have great potential to promote bilateral cooperation based on a harmonious balance of interests; emphasizing the need to strengthen contacts at all levels, through all bilateral and multilateral channels, including the Party and Parliament, in order to enhance political trust; and promoting the establishment of cooperation mechanisms between ministries, sectors, and localities.

Agreeing on the potential for cooperation in many fields, the two leaders emphasized the need for further cooperation in security and defense, strengthening transportation connectivity, including air, rail, and logistics, connecting Vietnam and Southeast Asia with Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

On this occasion, the General Secretary also thanked the Government of Kyrgyzstan for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Kyrgyzstan.

Regarding multilateral cooperation, both sides agreed to strengthen contacts and consultations, and to consider supporting each other's candidacies and initiatives in multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Eurasian Economic Union.
