US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold a face-to-face meeting on November 15 in San Francisco on the sidelines of the Asia- Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) summit.

Reuters, citing an unnamed senior US official on November 7, reported that this would be the first summit meeting this year between the two leaders of China and the US, and was planned when Biden visited San Francisco to chair the APEC conference. This move comes as both sides are trying to stabilize the intense rivalry they have been experiencing recently.

The US President and the Chinese President last met nearly a year ago on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. While China has yet to confirm President Xi Jinping's attendance at the upcoming APEC summit, the White House confirmed last week that the two countries have agreed in principle on a meeting between their leaders in San Francisco.

Regarding the APEC summit, according to AP, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is expected to meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on November 9 and 10 in San Francisco, before the finance ministers of APEC member countries officially open the summit on November 11.
