On the morning of September 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a conference to summarize the coordination of activities between the two sides in taking care of the lives of youth and workers in the period of 2021 - 2025.
Spending billions to take care of the lives of youth and workers
According to the summary report, over the past 5 years, the two units have coordinated effectively, completing assigned tasks in political and ideological education, and caring for the lives of youth and workers.
Specifically, the two sides have implemented a variety of political activities, competitions, legal consulting programs... attracting hundreds of thousands of young people, workers, civil servants, and laborers. Thereby, forming a generation of young people and workers with strong political will, attached to the revolutionary cause.
Second, for the patriotic emulation movement, the "Good worker, creative worker" movement has created an environment for young people and workers to improve their skills, expertise, foreign languages, and promote their pioneering role in production and integration.
Third is the work of taking care of people's lives, 2 units expanded, spread to freelance workers, unions, boarding houses, and accommodation areas, with a total estimated value of more than 2,343 billion VND.
The programs "Young workers' bus trip home to celebrate Tet", "Love ticket", "Tet sum vay" and caring activities on the occasion of Lunar New Year have supported millions of gifts, tens of thousands of bus and plane tickets worth nearly 2,150 billion VND.
The "Days of accompanying young workers", "Welfare for union members", and many other models such as giving away 211 "Union houses" and 36 "Dream rooms" to union members and young workers in difficult circumstances, with a total value of nearly 7 billion VND.
In particular, activities to take care of children of workers such as giving 94,000 Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships, "Tet for Children", Thanh Da summer camp, total cost of more than 80 billion VND.
Mission in the new Ho Chi Minh City area
With the above results, Mr. Phan Hong An, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, commented that the coordination model between the Labor Federation and the City Youth Union over the past 5 years has been effective, contributing to building a strong political organization at the grassroots level, practically accompanying the youth and workers.
From that, Mr. Phan Hong An proposed that the task in the coming time is to further emphasize the importance of improving the effectiveness of political education , ideology, civic awareness, and industrial working style for youth and workers. This helps youth and workers have the "resistance" to proactively identify problems, to avoid negative and incorrect manifestations, gradually improve political capacity, and promote the valuable qualities of workers in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. An believes that in the new period, practical support models and solutions such as campaigns to maintain or reduce rental prices, support vocational training, means of livelihood, organize price stabilization booths, cultural and sports playgrounds after work hours... must really reach out effectively to young people and workers. At the same time, the two organizations maintain and promote activities to accompany the children of workers.
At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, said that today's report focuses on evaluating the work of two units in the old Ho Chi Minh City area. To continue promoting the effectiveness of this model in the future, the Labor Federation and the City Youth Union have signed a joint program for the period 2026 - 2030.
"After 2 months of operating under the 2-level local government model, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has received close guidance from leaders at all levels. In the future, we will continue to follow the guidance and continue to maximize the effectiveness of the coordination between the two units. At the same time, we will learn more good models and programs to organize more activities and take better care of the lives of youth and workers in the new Ho Chi Minh City area," Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan shared.
