In an unusual announcement, Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation (KBC) stated that it had signed a memorandum of understanding in London (UK) with Accelerated Infrastructure Capital (AIC) and VietinBank to cooperate in developing a 200MW AI-powered data center complex. The Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park (Ho Chi Minh City) will be the location for this data center.
The signing ceremony took place immediately after the meeting between the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang and the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha and a delegation of international businesses and investors.
The three parties initially agreed to cooperate, leveraging each party's strengths, to implement the first phase of the data center project, while also considering expansion to other locations nationwide in subsequent phases.
KBC, chaired by Mr. Dang Thanh Tam, is a company with extensive experience in the field of industrial park and urban development.
Accelerated Infrastructure Capital (AIC) is a data center and digital infrastructure investment and development platform based in London and Hong Kong. AIC has participated in numerous large-scale data center projects in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with a total investment portfolio exceeding $20 billion.
The announcement further stated that AIC is aiming for long-term cooperation to develop a chain of ultra-large-scale data centers to serve the needs of cloud computing and AI in the region.
VietinBank will act as a financial partner, providing consulting services, project financing, and capital mobilization. The total projected investment for this data center complex is nearly $2 billion, raised from equity and commercial loans.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology announced that the city is attracting investment in high-tech industries, with some notable projects such as Viettel (140MW Data Center), CMC (US$250 million), and G42-UAE (US$2 billion Data Center).
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has received investment proposals for a Hyperscale Data Center project dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence, valued at approximately US$2 billion, from investors including G42 Technology Joint Stock Company (whose main shareholders are the state investment fund of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Microsoft Corporation of the United States), FPT Group, VinaCapital Investment Fund, and Viet Thai Investment Group.
