Product variety
Today, the first-ever Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Golf Tournament will connect tourism businesses to jointly promote and introduce this new tourism product of the city. The tournament will have 80-100 players, in addition to invited guests including foreign partners specializing in inbound tourism, representatives from consulates and embassies of various countries.
Mr. Trinh Nguyen Hung Dung, Chairman of the Saigon Golf Tourism Association (Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association), said that golf tourism will meet the needs of tourists in the mid- to high-end segment, which is a segment with high spending power, bringing significant revenue to the tourism industry. Currently, each golfer spends an average of over 500 USD per day with a longer average stay compared to other tourist groups.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, approximately 20% of Asian tourists (from South Korea, Japan, China, etc.) visiting Vietnam are interested in playing golf. Initially, Ho Chi Minh City's golf tourism sector aims to attract visitors from these countries.
On average, each golfer spends more than $500 per day.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in the last two months of the year, the city's tourism industry is striving to achieve the highest possible results to build a tourist destination and brand for the city.
Accordingly, the city will continue to develop distinctive tourism products, focusing on exploiting and promoting the strengths of tourism in Thu Duc City and other districts and counties, linked to tourism types that are potential strengths of the locality.
The tourism sector will implement a plan to develop waterway tourism, promote solutions for developing cruise tourism, and develop cultural and historical tourism products in the area; as well as a plan to develop nighttime tourism products.
"In the last two months of the year, the city also focused on promoting the development of community-based tourism products in Thieng Lieng (Can Gio District) associated with exploiting the unique natural and cultural values, implementing the plan to develop medical tourism products, and finalizing policies for the development of MICE tourism," Ms. Anh Hoa informed.
In addition, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week, held from December 4-10, 2023, themed "Green on Every Journey," will feature a series of unique tourism, sports, and music events, aimed at serving the community and domestic and international tourists, promising to be a highlight of Ho Chi Minh City's tourism season at the end of the year.
Make your mark with "quality"
In addition to focusing on tourism products, to enhance the city's tourism brand, in 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with relevant agencies to organize training courses on knowledge and skills for taxi drivers and seminars to exchange skills in serving tourists for food and beverage businesses in the area.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, building an image of friendly, professional, and hospitable restaurants and food establishments that leaves a good impression on tourists is not only significant in improving service quality but also contributes to building a positive local tourism environment.
"Through these training sessions, we expect that every driver and every person serving tourists will become a tourism ambassador for the city, contributing to promoting, spreading, and creating a positive image in the eyes of tourists," Ms. Ngoc Hieu shared.
Also this year, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry has brought tourism-related items such as conical hats, cloth bags, coffee, and performances of traditional musical instruments to key markets for Vietnamese tourism to promote Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, California (USA), expects that through this promotion program, the number of American tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City will increase significantly.
