Domestically, although the epidemic is largely under control, there has been a localized increase in the number of infectious disease cases in some areas, notably dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and Covid-19.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the infectious disease surveillance system is recording a rapid increase in the number of hand, foot, and mouth disease cases each week; the number of Covid-19 cases is also trending upwards in recent weeks, notably with the recording of a new variant, NB.1.8.1, with severe cases in patients with underlying conditions.
Dengue fever, in particular, remains stable, but is entering the peak season, and the number of cases is predicted to increase in the coming period.
