This morning (July 15), at the 17th session of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, presented a report on the issuance of a resolution approving the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2030 period of the locality.
According to Mr. Hai, the city has reviewed and developed a plan for the 2023-2025 and 2026-2030 periods and proposed a plan for a one-time general arrangement.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will reorganize 80 wards, including 77 wards subject to reorganization and 3 adjacent wards. The City People's Committee also proposed not to reorganize 57 wards and 1 town, due to special factors.
The arrangement is carried out on the basis of entering the entire area and population size of the administrative units subject to arrangement.
Specifically, District 3 will merge all wards 9 and 10 into ward 9; all wards 12 and 13 into ward 12.
District 4 merges all of Ward 6 and 9 into Ward 9; merges Wards 8 and 10 into Ward 8; merges Wards 14 and 15 into Ward 15.
District 5 merges wards 2 and 3 into ward 2; wards 5 and 6 into ward 5; wards 7 and 8 into ward 7; ward 10 merges into 11 into ward 11.
District 6 merges Ward 2, Ward 6 with part of Ward 5 into Ward 2; merges Wards 1, 3, 4 into Ward 1; merges Ward 9 with part of Ward 5 into Ward 9; merges Ward 11 and part of Ward 10 into Ward 11; merges Ward 14 and part of Ward 13 into Ward 14.
District 8 merges all wards 1, 2, 3 into Rach Ong ward; merges wards 8, 9, 10 into Hung Phu ward; merges wards 11, 12, 13 into Xom Cui ward.
District 10 merges wards 6 and 7 into ward 6; merges wards 5 and 8 into ward 8; ward 10 merges with ward 11 into ward 10.
District 11 merges wards 1 and 2 into ward 1; merges wards 4, 6, and 7 into ward 7; merges wards 8 and 12 into ward 8; merges wards 9 and 10 into ward 10; merges wards 11 and 13 into ward 11.
Binh Thanh District merges all of Ward 1 and 3 into Ward 1; merges Ward 5 and part of Ward 6 into Ward 5; merges Ward 7 and part of Ward 6 into Ward 7; merges Ward 11 and part of Ward 13 into Ward 11; merges Wards 2 and 15 into Ward 2; merges Wards 19 and 21 into Ward 19; merges Wards 14 and 24 into Ward 14.
Go Vap District merges wards 1, 4, 7 into ward 1; merges wards 8 and 9 into ward 8; merges ward 14 and part of ward 13 into ward 14; merges ward 15 with part of ward 13 into ward 15.
Phu Nhuan District merges all wards 3 and 4 into ward 4; merges wards 15 and 17 into ward 15.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assessed that, in general, this arrangement plan is consistent with the principles and requirements for arranging, organizing, and increasing the scale of administrative units; contributing to streamlining the apparatus and reducing staff.
The process of organizing the overall plan for the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2030 period in Ho Chi Minh City ensures objectivity, democracy, publicity and transparency. After the arrangement, Ho Chi Minh City will reduce 39 wards compared to the present.
