On May 23rd, in Vung Tau ward (Ho Chi Minh City), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with other units, organized a ceremony to launch the nationwide swimming training and drowning prevention campaign for 2026.
According to the organizers, the situation regarding drowning accidents remains complex, especially during the summer holidays when the demand for recreation, swimming, and outdoor activities increases.

The program aims to promote and encourage people, especially children, to actively practice swimming; to equip them with knowledge and skills for safety in aquatic environments, contributing to the prevention of injuries and drowning accidents among children.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, said that the city is stepping up activities to promote and guide drowning prevention skills in schools and residential communities, aiming to equip children, students, and teenagers with essential life skills.

The cultural performance livened up the program.
In the coming period, the culture and sports sector will continue to coordinate with localities, schools, and relevant units to promote swimming education, organize many activities to guide water safety skills to raise awareness and skills in preventing drowning among children.
During the program, a large number of students participated in experiential activities, received instruction on basic swimming techniques, learned how to wear a life jacket correctly, and how to handle dangerous situations in the water.

The program is being implemented simultaneously in many localities throughout the city. This is also one of the activities in response to the 2026 Action Month for Children, aiming to reduce injuries and drowning accidents among young children, as well as other activities.
