On the morning of April 23, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor outstanding individuals in the cause of building, protecting, and developing Ho Chi Minh City (1975-2025).

The Organizing Committee said that the 60 outstanding individuals honored (including 31 deceased individuals) are those with outstanding achievements, many contributions to the community and society in various sectors and fields during the 50-year journey of building, protecting and developing Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, 3 individuals were honored in the fields of politics and state management; 12 individuals in the fields of social activities; 11 individuals in the fields of education and training, health, science and technology; 10 individuals in the fields of culture, arts and press and communication; 5 individuals in the fields of economics ; 4 individuals in the fields of national defense and security; and 5 individuals in the fields of ethnicity and religion.

60 outstanding individuals with many important contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that the achievements the City has made over the past 50 years are thanks to the attention and close direction of the Central Government, the support of the provinces, the solidarity and efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the companionship of the people and businesses.

Among the contributions of many generations of predecessors who devoted themselves to Ho Chi Minh City, there are very important achievements of 60 outstanding individuals who were honored on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

The ceremony aims to recognize the important contributions of outstanding individuals, affirm their role and importance to the sustainable development of the City, motivate the younger generation to follow their example, continue and spread good values ​​in society, and inspire dedication, responsibility and creativity at work.

Looking back on the 50-year journey of national reunification, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that Ho Chi Minh City has always joined hands, united, and strived to overcome challenges, affirming its leading position.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders reviewed a number of creative and outstanding solutions that have left many marks over the past 50 years, such as industrial recovery, encouraging businesses to apply market mechanisms, converting ineffective trading cooperatives into the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), and establishing the country's first export processing zone, Quang Trung Software Park.
