In the men's 200m individual medley qualifying round this morning, Hung Nguyen only ranked fourth with a time of 2 minutes 7 seconds 18, this result is even worse than his teammate Nguyen Quang Thuan (younger brother of Nguyen Thi Anh Vien) 2 minutes 5 seconds 95, second place in the qualifying round.
Hung Nguyen competed excellently in the final swimming round.
However, when entering the final round, the 20-year-old Vietnamese swimmer performed excellently, finishing first with a time of 2 minutes 1 second 28, nearly 1 minute ahead of the runner-up Dulyawat Kaewsriyong (Thailand, 2 minutes 2 seconds 25) and Ian Tan (Singapore) with 2 minutes 2 seconds 42, placing third. Meanwhile, Quang Thuan only finished fourth with a time of 2 minutes 3 seconds 15.
The organizers awarded medals to the top 3 athletes.

Sharing after successfully defending the SEA Games gold medal, Hung Nguyen said: "I am very happy to have conquered myself to bring home the first gold medal for Vietnamese swimming at this year's SEA Games. To win this gold medal, I conquered myself. Although that achievement was not the best, I conquered myself. I would like to thank my teachers and teammates who have always been by my side in all circumstances. Even though there were times when I was injured, everyone still believed in me, motivated me, always accompanied me, and encouraged me anytime, anywhere."
