Trang Bang rises from the bombs of war

Gateway Land

Located in a particularly important position, Trang Bang is not only the gateway to Tay Ninh but also the gateway connecting the provinces of the Southeast region with neighboring Cambodia. Since the 19th century, under the flag of national heroes such as Truong Quyen and Lanh Binh Ket, the people of Trang Bang enthusiastically participated in resistance movements against the French colonialists. When the Communist Party of Vietnam was born, the light of revolution spread strongly across the land of Trang.

In October 1940, the first Communist Party of Vietnam cell of Tay Ninh province was established in Rach Tram hamlet, Phuoc Chi commune (now the western wing of Trang Bang town). This event marked an important turning point, opening the heroic and glorious revolutionary movement of the Party Committee, the people of Trang Bang and Tay Ninh province.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in the autumn of August 1945, cadres, soldiers, army and people of Trang Bang, together with the people of the whole country, rose up in an uprising to seize power for the people. Not long after gaining independence, the French colonialists returned to invade Saigon. Once again, cadres, soldiers, army and people of Trang continued to rise up in resistance. The army and people of Trang Bang were united and resilient, achieving a resounding victory at the Suoi Sau front in the early morning of November 8, 1945.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Trang Bang was famous for its revolutionary bases such as the Rong Forest Oath, the Boi Loi base, and the Iron Triangle. Therefore, this place became a fiercely attacked area by the enemy. The enemy applied most of the strategies and tactics such as building a system of strategic hamlets throughout the Trang Bang countryside, establishing a lackey hamlet and commune police apparatus with the goal of suppressing the people, seizing land, forcing people into concentration camps, and making great efforts to sweep, throw bombs, and use toxic chemicals, in order to tighten the people's lives and suppress the revolutionary movement.

On June 8, 1968, the American invaders bombed a village in Trang Bang, killing and injuring many people.

Despite facing such a brutal war, the army and people of Trang Bang did not retreat. The armed forces, the guerrilla teams of the communes and hamlets, the mothers, the sisters, and the students all became steadfast soldiers on the combat and logistical fronts.

Generations of Trang Bang children have gone to battle, destroying evil and breaking shackles. The uprising movement of the Trang Bang people was strong, providing effective support for major offensives, gradually expanding the liberated areas connecting with the Boi Loi base - Central Office of the South, contributing to resounding victories across the southern battlefield.

At 4:00 p.m. on April 29, 1975, the army and people of Trang Bang planted the liberation flag on the roof of the puppet district chief's palace in Trang Bang, becoming the second district of Tay Ninh to be liberated early before the liberation of Tay Ninh province and the liberation of the South on April 30, 1975.

Building the homeland from "blank land"

After the liberation day, Trang Bang was severely devastated, the lives of all classes of people were extremely deprived. With efforts and determination, the Party Committee, government and people of Trang Bang promoted the revolutionary tradition, solidarity, and made efforts to gradually overcome difficulties. From a "blank land", Trang effectively exploited its potential and advantages, building its homeland and achieving many important achievements in all fields.

Mr. Tran Tuong Quoc - Chairman of Trang Bang Town People's Committee said, looking back 50 years after the liberation day, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the attention and support of the provincial departments, branches and sectors, the unity of the Party Committee, the cooperation and sharing of all the people, Trang Bang has grown strongly. From a purely agricultural district, Trang Bang has become one of the dynamically developing towns, shifting the economic structure towards industrialization and modernization.

Up to now, Trang Bang is one of the 9 districts, towns and cities with the most industrial parks and export processing zones in the province. These places attract increasing domestic and foreign investment capital, creating stable jobs for workers in Trang Bang in particular, and in and outside Tay Ninh province in general. Infrastructure is focused on, the transportation system is gradually invested in and connected. The appearance of urban and rural areas has improved a lot.

Trang Bang has basically completed the task of building new rural areas and has been recognized by the Ministry of Construction as a type 3 urban area. The potential and strengths of Trang Bang are increasingly being exploited, becoming one of the attractive locations to attract investors, creating a spillover effect, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.

The Chairman of Trang Bang Town People's Committee added that along with economic development, cultural and social activities, activities of gratitude, taking care of policy families, people with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances are always focused on. The great national unity bloc in the Town is constantly consolidated and strengthened.

The system of education and health facilities has received investment attention, increasingly meeting the needs of the people. National defense and security have been maintained. The work of building and rectifying the Party has achieved comprehensive results. The political system from the town to the grassroots has been consolidated, improved, and increasingly strong. The leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party committees and organizations have been enhanced. The effectiveness and efficiency of State agencies' operations have continued to be improved, consolidating the people's trust in the Party and the State.

Despite the remarkable achievements, Mr. Tran Tuong Quoc said that Trang Bang is not satisfied with the present. The road ahead still has many challenges, requiring Trang Bang to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, unity, and focus on implementing key political tasks, especially the arrangement of the political system's apparatus "Straight - compact - strong - effective - efficient - effective" in accordance with the direction of the province and the Central Government; promote administrative reform, innovation, creativity, make good use of resources, promote the potential and strengths of the locality; train and build a team of cadres to ensure capacity and qualifications to develop science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, sustainable development, build the heroic homeland of Trang Bang to become increasingly rich, prosperous, and become an industrial center of the province.

The Chairman of Trang Bang Town People's Committee affirmed that, before the new era, the Party Committee, Government and People of Trang Bang Town are determined to build their homeland to be more and more prosperous, civilized, worthy of the endless epic, written with blood, sweat, tears and sacrifices, silent dedication of many generations, worthy of the trust of cadres, party members and people. Trang Bang, together with Tay Ninh province and the whole country, firmly steps into the new era, the era of national development.

During the two resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism, more than 29,000 young men and women from Trang Bang escaped to fight the resistance, accounting for nearly 1/3 of Trang Bang's population at that time. Hundreds of thousands of people went to work as laborers to serve the battlefield, more than 1 million cadres, soldiers, soldiers and civilians participated in the direct fight against the enemy, many of whom were captured and imprisoned by the enemy. There were 3,700 heroic sacrifices, some of whom have not yet been found; there were 580 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 10 heroes of the People's Armed Forces, 7 communes and towns were honored by the State as heroes and posthumously awarded the title of hero. Trang Bang district was honored by the State as a hero twice; many children of Trang Bang homeland became generals in the People's Armed Forces.
