On the morning of October 1 (the 10th day of the 8th lunar month), at the special national relic site of Great Poet Nguyen Du Memorial Site (Tien Dien commune, Ha Tinh province), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh solemnly held the 205th death anniversary of Great Poet Nguyen Du (1820-2025).

At the 205th death anniversary of the Great Poet Nguyen Du, delegates offered flowers and incense at the grave and shrine of the Great Poet, expressing their respect for the precious and valuable legacies that Nguyen Du left for posterity.

His name and career, especially his work Truyen Kieu - are not only the pinnacle symbol of Vietnamese literature but also the red thread connecting the Vietnamese soul for many generations.
With his timeless stature, Nguyen Du has elevated Vietnamese culture, contributed to affirming national identity in the international arena, and become a part of the quintessence of human culture.

The death anniversary took place in a sacred and respectful atmosphere in accordance with traditional Vietnamese cultural customs; an opportunity for future generations to express their respect and deep gratitude to the Great Poet Nguyen Du; with profound educational significance, emphasizing the responsibility of today's generations in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage left by the Great Poet, especially in the period of deep international integration.

Great poet Nguyen Du was born in 1765 and died in 1820. His hometown was Tien Dien commune, Ha Tinh province. His given name was To Nhu and his pen name was Thanh Hien. Great poet Nguyen Du's father was Nguyen Nghiem, a mandarin with the title of Tham Tung under the Le dynasty. His mother was Tran Thi Tan, from Kinh Bac - Bac Ninh .
During the Nguyen Dynasty, Nguyen Du was a district magistrate and was twice sent by the royal court as an envoy to the Qing Dynasty, China. He fell ill and died in the Imperial City of Hue on the 10th day of the 8th lunar month in 1820. Nguyen Du left behind many valuable literary legacies, filled with love for people, especially women, of which the most prominent is the masterpiece The Tale of Kieu.
