On the morning of February 22, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council held its second meeting to prepare for military recruitment in 2024.
Reporting at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Phat, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, said that before February 4, 2024, the Military Service Council of districts and Thu Duc city had organized the issuance of conscription orders for citizens in accordance with regulations.
Accordingly, the total number of military service orders issued is 4,150, of which the official orders are for 3,956 citizens (3,950 men, 6 women), and the reserve is 194 (accounting for 4.9% of the target).
108 party members received orders. 1,924 citizens received orders to join the army with intermediate, college, or university degrees. 3,386 citizens received orders to join the army with health class 1 or 2.
For citizens enlisting in the police force, by February 18, the police of districts, towns and Thu Duc city had completed the selection files of 857 young men with health of type 1 and type 2; 11 party members; 218 citizens with intermediate, college and university degrees...
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, affirmed that "the quality of military recruitment this year is very high with many party members and young people with university degrees joining the army."
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council, requested members of the Military Service Council to closely follow the chairmen of districts, towns, and Thu Duc city to manage the situation and handle arising issues related to young people joining the army.
From there, assign members of the grassroots Military Service Council and organizations to grasp the circumstances, thoughts and feelings of all families with young men enlisted in the army to promptly care for them.
According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, this year, the good news is that the quality of military recruitment is high. Currently, the preparation work has been completed 90%, only waiting for the day of military handover. In addition, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City also proposed to promote the capacity of the youth force after completing military service, there must be a plan, calculating input and output right now so that the youth force completing military service becomes the core force at the grassroots level, participating in work in a number of administrative agencies.
The locality will even propose to the Ministry of Defense and Military Region 7 to have a recruitment rate of university graduates.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council, in 2024, the military service handover ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City will be held on the morning of February 27.
