On the morning of February 22nd, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council held its second meeting to prepare for the 2024 military recruitment process.

Reporting at the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Phat, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, stated that before February 4, 2024, the Military Service Councils of the districts, counties, and Thu Duc City had organized the issuance of conscription orders to citizens in accordance with regulations.

Accordingly, a total of 4,150 conscription orders were issued, including 3,956 official orders (3,950 men, 6 women) and 194 reserve orders (accounting for 4.9% of the target).

108 Party members received conscription orders. 1,924 citizens with intermediate, college, or university degrees received conscription orders. 3,386 citizens with health classifications 1 and 2 received conscription orders…

Regarding citizens enlisting in the police force, as of February 18th, the police departments of districts, counties, and Thu Duc City had completed the selection process for 857 young men with health classifications 1 and 2; 11 Party members; and 218 citizens with intermediate, college, or university degrees…

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, affirmed that "the quality of recruitment this year is very high, with many Party members and young people with university degrees joining the army."

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Chairman of the Military Service Council of Ho Chi Minh City, requested that members of the Military Service Council closely monitor the chairmen of districts, counties, and Thu Duc City to manage the situation and handle any issues arising related to youth enlistment.

From there, members of the grassroots Military Service Council and mass organizations are assigned to understand the circumstances, thoughts, and feelings of all families with young men enlisting in the military in order to provide timely care.

According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, this year, a positive sign is the high quality of recruitment. Currently, 90% of the preparations are complete, and we are only waiting for the handover date. However, agencies and units must absolutely not be complacent but must review the preparations, coordinate well, and be ready for the handover…

In addition, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City also suggested developing the capabilities of young people after they complete their military service, and that there should be a plan and calculations for their future employment from now on so that young people who have completed their military service can become a core force at the grassroots level and participate in the work of some administrative agencies.

Furthermore, the local authorities will even propose to the Ministry of National Defence and Military Region 7 to increase the percentage of recruits with university degrees.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council, the city's military conscription ceremony in 2024 will be held on the morning of February 27th.
