Smart City 2024 Awards Ceremony

Smart City 2024 - The Smart City Initiative is an annual innovation and startup competition held at the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, organized by the High-Tech Business Incubator (SHTP-IC), and launched in October 2024.

Two projects on AI (artificial intelligence) and biotechnology in agriculture won the Smart City 2024 award.

This year, the competition attracted 100 registered teams. Through the preliminary rounds, the organizers selected over 60 promising projects from young people at universities across the country.

The Smart City 2024 competition is of great significance in unlocking the potential of the young intellectual community and technology startup projects and businesses. Through this, it creates a workforce to implement the development direction of building smart cities.

In addition, the competition includes a category for students focusing on robot assembly and programming, helping them to gain early exposure to STEM education and apply knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to specific contexts. The activity aims to connect schools, communities, workplaces, and global organizations to develop competencies in STEM fields.

At the final round held on the afternoon of December 18th, the competing teams presented their projects, products, and business models to a judging panel comprising experts in technology and innovative startups. Projects that have refined and developed their ideas and products have the opportunity to receive valuable prizes from sponsors and participate in the pre-incubation program at SHTP-IC.

According to the organizers, Ho Chi Minh City is currently focusing on building models and methods of cooperation to create an industrial transformation ecosystem, integrating digital transformation and green transformation. Simultaneously, the impacts of population growth and environmental pollution have spurred the development of a circular economy towards sustainable development.

Group A: Digital technology, integrated circuit, IoT projects...

• First Prize: Project to develop a website for screening for thalassemia based on artificial intelligence.
• Second Prize: Drone Soccer Vietnam Project - A smart education and training system in the field of drones.
• Third prize: VierCycle Project - Electric bicycle ecosystem.
• Honorable Mention: E-Motion Project - Electric Power Steering and 5Star Project - The number one app connecting the construction, home care, minor repairs, and contractor calling industries.

• First Prize: Project on High-Density Probiotic Production and Application of Probiotics to Create Biological Products for Environmental Protection in Agriculture.
• Second Prize: Bio Garlic HD Project - A project on fermented microbial products from black garlic - a green solution for Vietnam's livestock industry.
• Third Prize: USH Oncology Project - Developing software to aid in early diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of liver cancer.

Student Board

• First prize: Nam Saigon Primary, Secondary and High School; Robot Academy - Hoc Mon; Thu Duc High School.
