Awarding the Medal "For the cause of justice" to the Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of August 6, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh presented the Medal "For the cause of justice" to Mr. Keijo Norvanto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Vietnam, in recognition of his positive contributions in promoting legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh highly appreciated the bridging role of the Ambassador and the Embassy of Finland in strengthening the friendly relationship, supporting and promoting cooperation between the two countries ' Ministries of Justice ; at the same time, he emphasized that the Ambassador and the Embassy staff have made important contributions to consolidating and developing the legal-judicial cooperation between Vietnam and Finland in particular and the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Finland in general.

The Minister said that Vietnam is promoting institutional reform, developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; in which, the legal sector plays a fundamental role. Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW of the Politburo sets the goal of completing a democratic, synchronous, fair and transparent legal system by 2030, creating a solid legal basis for national development.
Emphasizing that in that context, there is still much room for cooperation in the legal and judicial fields between the two countries, the Minister expressed his hope that the Ambassador would continue to support the promotion of deeper cooperation between the two countries in the legal and judicial fields. In particular, the Minister hoped that the two Ministries of Justice would soon negotiate and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, towards a more regular, substantive and effective cooperation program. At the same time, cooperation with Finnish partners such as the Center for the Rule of Law - Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki would be promoted.

Thanking the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice for recognizing his personal contributions, Ambassador Keijo Norvanto affirmed that he will continue to strongly promote the rule of law cooperation between the two countries, in which digital transformation is the focus.

The Ambassador believes that his successor will continue to develop this cooperative relationship to a new height, while expanding cooperation between universities and organizations of the two countries.
