On April 30th, at the special national historical site of Hien Luong - Ben Hai, a solemn, sacred, and meaningful flag-raising ceremony commemorating the reunification of the country was held. The ceremony also served as an opportunity to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs and demonstrate the spirit of national unity.

On April 30th, at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai National Special Historical Site ( Quang Tri province ), the red flag with a yellow star was raised, marking the opening of the "National Reunification" Festival. This event commemorates the 49th anniversary of the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) and the 52nd anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province (May 1, 1972 - May 1, 2024).
Speaking at the event, Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, shared that while the war has receded into the past, the memories of those heroic and glorious years still live on in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. He emphasized: "Ben Hai-Hien Luong has been etched into the history of the nation and the consciousness of humanity, forever remaining a shining symbol of faith and aspiration for peace and national reunification, representing the will and strength of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national liberation and the cause of building socialism."
Through the flag-raising ceremony, participants remember the past, marking glorious milestones in the country's history and simultaneously honoring the values of unity, solidarity, and peace, looking forward to a bright and prosperous future.

The banks of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai River are not only an important historical site but also a tourist attraction due to their beautiful natural scenery. As part of the program, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a boat race on the Ben Hai River with the participation of 8 teams representing the districts and cities of Quang Tri province.
