This is the result of a collaboration betweenFPT University and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) – the largest university of applied sciences in Finland, a country consistently ranked among the world's top in educational quality.

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Maija Seppälä – Chargé d'affaires ad interim, Counselor of the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam; representatives from FPT Software, FPT Group; Dr. Hoang Viet Ha – Director of FPT International University, FPT Group; along with lecturers and staff of the Institute, business representatives and a delegation from Metropolitan University.

Not only is Finland renowned for its top rankings in global rankings such as OECD's PISA and World Economic Forum reports, but its education system is also admired by international organizations for its training philosophy focused on innovation, holistic thinking development, smart technology application, and global adaptability. Finland's model of applied universities – which particularly emphasizes the link between academia and practice to create solutions – has resulted in exceptional value in training high-quality human resources.

In its first year of implementation, the program will recruit 100 students for the Information Technology major in Hanoi .

Speaking at the event, Ms. Maija Seppälä highly appreciated the cooperation between the two universities, affirming that this is a prime example of international educational cooperation between Finland and Vietnam: “The Finnish model of applied universities creates a strong link between education and professional practice, helping students both acquire academic knowledge and experience a real-world work environment during their studies. With this program, Vietnamese students will access an advanced education that emphasizes innovation and is student-centered – especially in fields such as information technology and digitalization. This is an important foundation for developing high-quality human resources for Vietnam, Finland, and the world.”

In its first year, the program will enroll 100 students in the Information Technology program in Hanoi. To support and encourage talented new students, 100% of enrolled students will receive scholarships, with many valuable scholarships covering up to over 50% of tuition fees for the entire duration of their studies. This will enable students to pursue a world-class program at a very reasonable cost. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, community contributions, and individual potential for growth.

Students studying in Vietnam will receive a university degree directly from Metropolia University in Finland, with a curriculum taught entirely in English, identical in content and teaching methods to the program in Finland. The teaching staff all meet the international teaching standards of Metropolia University in Finland.

Furthermore, the program also applies a practical training model closely linked to businesses and global output standards. This program combines the technological strengths of the FPT Group ecosystem with the leading innovative and applied education philosophy from Finland.

Dr. Hoang Viet Ha - Director of FPT International University, FPT Group, shared: “Beyond theory, students learn and practice within the technology ecosystem of FPT Group – a hub of digital infrastructure, real-world projects, and a global network of businesses. In addition, opportunities for exchange programs, internships, and work in Finland and Europe are integrated into the program – helping students learn while accumulating practical international experience.” He emphasized that this is an educational model that trains global citizens – where students are honed in creative thinking, innovation, adaptability, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

With a solid academic foundation and a comprehensive integration orientation, “Finland Metropolia Vietnam” serves as a bridge helping Vietnamese students obtain internationally recognized bachelor's degrees from Metropolia University (Finland) with global value: “The training content is designed to closely align with modern career trends, focusing on rapidly developing fields such as software technology and IoT. Modern teaching methods, emphasizing practical application, creativity, and strong connections with businesses are the outstanding features that set the program apart,” Dr. Hoang Viet Ha also affirmed.

As a business representative accompanying the program, Ms. Vu Quynh Anh – representative of FPT Software, FPT Group – shared about the close connection between the school and businesses in developing practical skills for students. She stated that FPT will play an important role in supporting students through international internship programs. “We are implementing the Global Internship Program, creating opportunities for international students to intern during the summer, work directly with global clients, and receive mentorship from senior experts. In practice, we have observed that students from international cooperation programs like this often excel in communication skills, use English confidently, and quickly adapt to project-based learning methods, which are very suitable for the modern work environment,” she emphasized.

Mr. Ville Jääskeläinen – Senior Lecturer, Technology Engineer, Head of the Master's Program in Information Technology, School of Information Technology & Information Management, Metropolia University (Finland) expressed his expectations for long-term development between the two universities. He stated that, after Information Technology, the program could expand to other fields in the future. “Both universities share a common mission: to train successful citizens who are adaptable and capable of leading innovation in a global society.”

“Finland Metropolia Vietnam” is not only a high-quality education option with reasonable costs and attractive scholarship policies, but also a strategic step in training a generation of young professionals with creative thinking, integration skills, and readiness to adapt to the global labor market. “Learning by application – Working globally” is the core spirit that the program aims for.
