The model, supported by the Plan project, involves 25 households, each with 1 sao (approximately 1000 square meters) of land. Each participating household receives 1,050 high-quality MD2 pineapple seedlings and 50 kg of NPK fertilizer. A key innovation of the model is intercropping the pineapples with existing crops such as bananas, cassava, coffee, or forestry trees. This approach not only increases income per unit area but also helps retain moisture, prevent soil erosion, reduce weeds, and lower maintenance costs.
To ensure sustainability, the project also supports technical training at each stage of pineapple development; training in group management, record-keeping, and business planning for participating households. At the same time, the local government and the project management board are actively connecting with businesses and cooperatives to ensure stable output, gradually expanding the model and aiming to build a distinctive brand for Lìa commune's honey pineapple.
