Taking place from August 30th to September 15th, the exhibition displays 160 images, documents, and artifacts under three main themes. Part one, "Historical Autumn," provides information on the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh in the struggle for independence, highlighting historical milestones from 1930 to the event of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2nd, 1945.
Part two, themed "The Power of Belief," highlights the challenges the country faced after gaining independence, from fighting famine, illiteracy, and foreign invasion to the resistance against French colonialism. In particular, the exhibition emphasizes the victory at Dien Bien Phu and the importance of national unity.
Part three, themed "Continuing the Glorious Legacy," takes viewers back to the period of the resistance war against the US, with a focus on the Spring Offensive of 1975, which completely liberated the South and unified the country.
On its opening day, the exhibition attracted a large number of visitors. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, from Hoi Thuong Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, was moved by the historical images: “I think there should be more exhibitions like this to remind and educate about historical values. Here, I saw images of the August Revolution and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh during the founding days of the state, as well as his role in leading the struggle for national independence. During this holiday, I have relatives from other provinces visiting, so this exhibition is definitely a place I will take them to.”
