According to the Central Executive Committee, Mr. Vo Van Thuong is a key leader of the Party and State, received basic training, grew up from the grassroots, and was assigned to hold many important leadership positions of the Party and State. Government.
However, Mr. Vo Van Thuong violated the Regulations on what party members cannot do, the Regulations on the responsibility to set an example for officials and party members, first of all members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, Member of the Party Central Committee and responsible for the head according to Party regulations and State laws.
Mr. Vo Van Thuong's violations and shortcomings have caused bad public opinion, affecting the reputation of the Party, the State and him personally.
Clearly aware of his responsibility to the Party, State and people, Mr. Vo Van Thuong has submitted an application to resign from his assigned positions and take a leave of absence from work.
The Central Executive Committee agreed to let Mr. Vo Van Thuong resign from the following positions: Member of the Politburo, Member of the 2021th Party Central Committee, President, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council for the term 2026-XNUMX.
The President and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council are positions elected by the National Assembly from among National Assembly deputies, so the dismissal process for Mr. Vo Van Thuong will be conducted by the National Assembly.
With the organization of this extraordinary session, the 6th National Assembly will have 78 extraordinary sessions from the beginning of the XNUMXth term. This is unprecedented in the XNUMX-year history of the Vietnam National Assembly.
In 2023 alone, the National Assembly will hold the largest number of sessions in a year with 5 sessions, including 3 extraordinary sessions (2nd, 3rd, 4th).
These 3 meetings reviewed and decided on 84 major and important issues, promptly meeting urgent practical requirements, contributing to stabilizing and developing the country, creating a premise to promote the implementation of tasks. 2024 and following years.
Right in the early days of 2024, the National Assembly successfully held its 5th extraordinary session, passing two particularly important laws, the Land Law (amended) and the Law on Credit Institutions (amended). ).
The 15th National Assembly has also repeatedly commented that "extraordinary" sessions have become "normal", in order to properly meet the requirements of economic and social life and the legitimate aspirations of voters.
