The special film screening "Truong Son - Unforgettable Years" will take place at 9:00 AM from May 19th to 21st at Ngoc Khanh Cinema, 523 Kim Ma Street, Giang Vo Ward, Hanoi .
The film that kicked off the film series on May 19th was "From a Forest," produced by the Vietnam Feature Film Studio in 1978 and directed by Duc Hoan.
The film tells the story of Hieu and Thanh, two young men who enlist and join the Youth Volunteer Force on a strategic road during wartime. In the harsh environment of the Truong Son mountain range, they face bombs, disease, and challenges to their camaraderie, love, and ideals. The film portrays the courage and sacrifice of Vietnamese youth during the war.
On May 20th, audiences had the opportunity to enjoy the film "Red Dawn," directed by Nguyen Thanh Van and Tran Chi Thanh, and produced by the Vietnam Film Association in 2021.
The film is set after the Tet Offensive of 1968, when the Trường Sơn battlefield was becoming increasingly fierce. A group of young female volunteers were selected and rapidly trained to become the first female transport drivers on the Trường Sơn route. They transported goods and wounded soldiers amidst bombs and bullets, while also facing loss, sacrifice, and youthful love. The film won the Silver Kite Award at the 20th Vietnam Film Festival, the Jury Award.
The film that concluded the screening on May 21st was "The Legend of Quan Tien" directed by Dinh Tuan Vu.
The film is adapted from the short story "Legend of Quan Tien" by writer Xuan Thieu. The setting is a military outpost on the Truong Son trail during the war against the US. Three young female volunteers live amidst the wild mountains and forests, bombs and bullets, and mysterious stories with a legendary quality. The film has won numerous awards, including the Silver Lotus at the 21st Vietnam Film Festival and the Silver Kite Award in 2019.
