Presenting a plan for the establishment of the Department of Transportation and Public Works.

Kinhtedothi - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Internal Affairs has submitted to the City People's Committee a plan for reorganizing the administrative apparatus, specialized agencies, and public service units, including some specialized units.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will reduce the number of specialized agencies under the City People's Committee from 21 to 16 units. Specifically: The Department of Internal Affairs will be reorganized by merging the Department of Internal Affairs and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, taking over the functions and tasks of state management regarding labor, wages, employment; war invalids; occupational safety and health; social insurance; and gender equality from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs was established by merging the Religious Affairs Committee with the Ethnic Affairs Committee. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment was reorganized by merging the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Food Safety Department is maintained under the pilot model of Ho Chi Minh City, with a more streamlined organization in accordance with Resolution 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly . The Finance Department is merged from the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance, and incorporates the Enterprise Management Innovation Board.

The Department of Science and Technology was formed by merging the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Information and Communications. The Department of Construction was formed by merging the Department of Construction and the Department of Planning and Architecture.

Specifically, the Department of Public Works and Transportation was established from the Department of Transportation, taking over the Standing Office of the Traffic Safety Committee and some infrastructure management functions from the Department of Construction.

In addition to the above departments, the remaining units include: the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Tourism, the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Justice, the Department of Industry and Trade, the City People's Committee Office, and the City Inspectorate.
