GuatemalaA court in Guatemala City sentenced the drug lord to 808 years in prison for participating in the massacre of 15 Nicaraguans and a Dutch citizen in 2008.
Morales was arrested in 2022 after 13 years on the run, and his trial began in September 9.
According to the prosecutor, in the 2008 massacre, the bus carrying the victims from Nicaragua and Guatemala was stopped by drug traffickers.
Eight other suspects, including Montiel Marin's wife, Sara Cruz, were also sentenced to prison, with varying sentences.
Although the court imposed a prison sentence of more than 800 years, in reality Guatemalan law stipulates that a prisoner should serve no more than 50 years in prison.
